Pascal Wehrlein puts his name on top of the first day’s ranking, despite the fact that the session was interrupted due to rain, while Nico Rosberg certifies his great shape and gets best time of the second day.
Wehlrein manages a 1m:11.005 time, being 2 tenths of a second ahead of Esteban Ocon, Force India test driver. The times were set during the afternoon session, as the first half of the day was compromised by rain. Max Verstappen finished 3rd, as the Dutch was the one who covered the highest number of laps, 97.
After a fast laps course, the newcomer Antononio Fuoco sets a wheel on the grass right before the first corner and hits the guardrail, damaging the front end of his Ferrari. The Italian though finishes in the 4th spot, ahead of Romain Grosjean. Behind him, there come Pierre Gasly and Raffaele Marciello, and the list is closed up by Vandoorne and Susie Wolff, as the British female driver also secures the training session before the Great Britan Grand Prix.
Nico Rosberg commands the pace of the second testing day, managing to get a 1m:09:113 time, 8 tenths of a second ahead of the one coming in the second position, Esteban Guttierez. Valtteri Bottas rounds up the “podium”, but he is the only driver to cover less than 100 laps. At the other end, there is Marco Wittmann, as he managed to cross the finish line 158 times, for his debut in a Formula 1 racing car.
Wehrlein went behind the wheel of the Force India car for the second day and completed 132 laps, coming in 5th, ahead of Jolyon Palmer. Alonso comes across a reasonable day and manages to finish ahead of Ricciardo and Felipe Nasr.
