Mercedes-Benz has revealed a special edition of the Sprinter van, as one of the most popular vans on the road is celebrating its 20th birthday.
Only 1200 special edition vehicles will see the light of day and each will be bearing the badge recalling the special event, “Sprinter 20”. The vehicles are also set to come with a special accessory package.
Air conditioning, satellite navigation, a Driver’s Comfort seat with an armrest, wheel trims and a chrome grille will all come as standard, despite the special edition commanding a premium of just £750 (1 064 euros / 1 174 dollars) over the standard vehicle. The package would normally be optional for more than £2000 (2 838 euros / 3 131 dollars)
The Sprinter history started way back, as it was first launched in April 1995. Since then, it has become one of the most commonly sighted commercial vehicles on the roads.
Steve Bridge, Managing Director of Mercedes-Benz Vans, stated for the media: “Mercedes-Benz has been making Vans since 1896 and has pioneered new standards in safety every step of the way, with Sprinter leading from the front. From introducing ESP in 1995, offering the driver airbag as standard in 2000, launching Crosswind Assist in 2013, and most recently becoming the first manufacturer in the world to equip all new vans as standard with Rescue Assist QR code stickers, we have never sat still.”
