Mercedes-Benz Cars sales declined by 7% in the first half of 2026 to 837,200 units. All three model segments—Top-End, Core, and Entry—posted declines of between 5% and 8%. We have also a very good news: sales of electric models has increased by 28% in the first 6 months of 2026.

Mercedes was unable to halt its sales decline in the second quarter of 2026, and consequently in the first half of the year, mainly due to the sharp downturn in the Chinese market. Sales in China fell by 28% during the first six months to 210,200 units. The slump in China also weighed heavily on Mercedes’ overall performance in Asia, where the company sold just 291,000 vehicles, 25% fewer than in the first half of 2025.

On the positive side, sales recovered in both Europe and the United States. In Europe, deliveries increased by 5% to 325,000 units during the first six months, driven primarily by strong performance in Germany, where sales rose by 6% to 105,300 units.

North America recorded the strongest growth, with sales rising by 15% to 180,900 units, thanks to an excellent performance in the United States, where Mercedes sold 163,000 vehicles—15% more than in the first half of 2025.

Declines Across All Segments, but sales of electric cars has increased by 28%

All three model segments posted lower sales in the first half of 2026: Top-End was down 8%, Core declined by 7%, and Entry fell by 5%.

Mercedes sold 110,400 vehicles from its Entry segment during the first six months of 2026, 5% fewer than a year earlier. The main sales drivers were the Mercedes CLA and GLB, while the all-new electric GLA will be unveiled later this month.

Sales in the Core segment totaled 249,300 units, representing a 7% decline, with the GLE and GLC remaining the brand’s best-selling models.

Top-End segment sales reached 119,600 units, down 8% year-on-year. Global sales of the G-Class increased by 3% in the first half of 2026 compared with the same period of 2025. The facelifted Mercedes S-Class also made a strong start, recording encouraging sales following its launch.

On the other hand, sales of electric models surged by 28% in the first six months of 2026 to 97,100 units, marking the first significant increase after several years of decline.

The result was expected given the stronger-than-anticipated order intake for the new Mercedes CLA Electric. The Mercedes GLC Electric is also proving to be a major success, although its sales figures will be more fully reflected in the second half of the year, as deliveries only began in April.

Sales of the new GLA Electric will begin at the end of this month, followed by the launch of the new electric C-Class this autumn.

As a result, this is the first time in several years that electric models have accounted for more than 10% of Mercedes-Benz Cars sales. With 97,100 electric vehicles out of a total of 837,200 units sold, EVs represented an 11.6% share of total sales.
