Mercedes has announced the price of the new top-of-the-range AMG model in the compact class. The Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 4Matic+ starts at €79,039, making it €2,500 cheaper than the previous-generation Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 4Matic S, which cost €81,592.

More power, lower price: the new-generation Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 4Matic+, equipped with three innovative axial-flux electric motors, develops 680 hp and 1,759 Nm, which is 259 hp and 1,259 Nm more than the previous model’s 2.0-liter turbo engine, which produced 421 hp and 500 Nm. And at €79,039, the price is €2,500 lower than that of the previous combustion-engined generation, which cost €81,592.

It seems like a real bargain, especially considering that the new model accelerates from 0 to 100 kph in just 2.7 seconds, compared with 4 seconds for the previous generation.

The new Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 4Matic+ is also available as a Shooting Brake, starting at €80,408. For just €1,300 more, buyers get a more spacious luggage compartment and greater headroom in the rear.

Unlike the regular electric CLA, the AMG version comes standard with AMG Ride Control adaptive suspension and grey brake calipers. Red or black brake calipers are available as options.

The navigation system based on Google Maps is standard, but the passenger display costs an additional €1,160, augmented-reality navigation €500, and the head-up display €892.

Sport seats are standard, but customers can additionally order the AMG Performance Seat package (€3,784), which includes multi-contour Performance front seats with memory, or the AMG Performance Seat High-End package, featuring multi-contour Performance front seats with memory, upholstered in Nappa leather and optionally available with microfiber. An AMG Performance steering wheel upholstered in Nappa leather with microfiber, or entirely in microfiber, is also available as an option.

Like the other models in the range, the Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 4Matic+ can charge at DC charging stations at up to 320 kW. However, charging at older 400V DC stations requires an additional €654, while the same amount is charged if you want faster AC charging at 22 kW instead of the standard 11 kW.

The Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 4Matic+ will compete with models such as the BMW M2 and Audi RS3.
