Lewis Hamilton came out of the race literally fuming! He was furious at the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS executives, because only his engine went up in flames in the Malaysian Grand Prix last Sunday, of all the eight racing cars propelled by Mercedes units. “Somebody doesn’t want me to win”, Hamilton said. The team boss Toto Wolff suggested that he must have referred to God!
“Sabotaging our best driver, our 3-time world champion? We couldn’t even if we tried”, said Toto Wolff, after fans accused the Mercedes executives of pulling strings so that Nico Rosberg can become a German champion with a German car.
Lewis Hamilton’s statement to the media, right after his retirement because of his brand-new engine blowing up, shocked the squad’s bosses and fired up the fans’ suspicions.
“I’ll take him to Japan tomorrow morning in my plane, I hope I can bring him up, because the championship is over when the last race is over”, said Niki Lauda, the non-executive chairman of the team, widely known for his preference for Nico Rosberg.
There was a meeting at the paddock, right after the race in which Nico Rosberg finished third and secured his 23-point lead ahead of teammate Lewis Hamilton. “We all applauded Lewis for his great speech in there’’, Toto Wolff revealed, claiming the unity that never got out in front of the cameras.
The team has already arrived in Japan. The cars have been unloaded and mechanics and drivers are getting ready for Thursday’s free practice session in Suzuka.
