What you might know today as the Mercedes-Benz CLA, started out, as it often happens in the automotive industry, in the form of a prototype which made its debut at the 2012 Auto China: the Mercedes Concept Style Coupe.

The style rebel. This is how the Concept Style Coupe was seen by Mercedes-Benz when presented in Beijing, during 2012 Auto China. At the same time, Mercedes-Benz made the first steps in launching a new design language in the sporty executive coupe segment.

For that, the Concept Style Coupe adopted technical highlights like a new headlamp design with innovative indicators, the new four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine developing 211 hp and the all-wheel drive 4MATIC system.

Regarding the exterior, the Concept Style Coupe is 4.637 mm long, 1.891 mm wide and 1.398 mm tall. At a closer look, one can easily spot styling cues which have been set by another concept, the A-Class.

The sporty yet elegant appearance is also created using the Alubeam paint finish, a diamond-look grille and the 20-inch wheels with perforated pins on the spokes and frameless side windows.

All this is continued by the interior, which has been decorated with a large carbon-fibre trim panel, while the mix of light grey and anthracite has roots in the fashion industry.

Leather couldn’t miss the party so Mercedes-Benz opted for nubuck leather and Alcantara, plus suede on the sport steering wheel. Like the A-Class concept, the air vents remind us of an aircraft jet engine.
