The new Mercedes-AMG GT has just entered series production at the company’s plant in Sindelfingen. The first of them was an GT PRO, built by specially trained staff.

Developed in Affalterbach, the facelifted Mercedes-AMG GT undergoes procedures of top-quality hand finishing at the production center. The highly-qualified workers are all trained to assemble and fit each of the variants of the dream car, either they need to deal with a vehicle with fabric top, one with carbon-fiber or glass roof, with standard equipment or exclusive customized options. It is all due to the highly flexible production line.

“The start of production of the revamped Mercedes-AMG GT sports cars shows once again that the Mercedes-Benz Sindelfingen plant is not only a manufacturer of top-quality volume-produced vehicles. With our highly motivated and experienced team we are in a position to meet our customers’ wishes for highly exclusive vehicles such as the Mercedes-AMG GT. We are rightly proud of that,” says Michael Bauer, Head of Production of the Mercedes-Benz Sindelfingen plant and Site Manager.

The facelifted models come with various visual updates and greater performance and handling, being brought onboard by the AMG DYNAMICS handling control. There is a new AMG Performance steering wheel, there is a center console with innovative display buttons and a fully digital instrument display.

The AMG GT R PRO limited edition, introduced in November 2018, has been updated in terms of racetrack performance as well, receiving a brand-new suspension. the bucket sats and the wheels supply it with an optimized power/weight ratio and greater agility.

With a workforce of more than 25,000 employees, Sindelfingen is one of the company’s most modern production center. It is the place where the S- and the E-Class families, the CLS, the Mercedes-Maybach models, the GLA and the AMG GT are being built. The plant will also make room for the EQ brand.
