The first Mercedes-AMG Plug-in Hybrid is ready for its public debut. It will come out on the stage of the electrified high-performance cars in the shape of the Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe.

The Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe will roll off the assembly line in Affalterbach with an indicative that will immediately make it recognizable. There will be the E Performance lettering on the boot lid. The electrified version of the 4-door sports coupe will be the most powerful version yet.

On the market since 2018, the car will get its top of the range this fall. Mercedes-AMG announces the 1st of September as the day of the public debut. The model will also be on display at the Munich Motor Show. The event will open its gate for the public on the 7th of September.

The new version will be a GT 73e and it will come with a biturbo 4.0-liter V8 and an electric motor mounted on the rear axle. The system will develop 816 horsepower and a peak torque of 1,000 Newton meters. This are figures that will make the car accelerate from a standstill to 100 km/h in less than 3 seconds. It means that it will be way faster than the GT 63 S variant.

Mercedes-AMG Plug-in Hybrid – The calm before the roar

Mercedes-AMG posted a teaser photo on its Instagram profile with the caption “The calm before the roar”, followed by hashtags such as “MercedesAMG”, “EverythingIsQuiet” and “EPerformance”.

The photo reveals the front end of the model. It pretty much looks like the facelifted Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S. But it sports a more aggressively styled front bumper and wider intakes.

The upcoming Mercedes-AMG Plug-in Hybrid will come into the world as a rival of the Porsche Panamera S E-Hybrid.
