The time has finally come. The new Mercedes-AMG ONE production version is ready to rock the hypercar world. The sports carmaker will pull the curtain off on June 1st.

Just two days are left before we get to see the series-production version of the Mercedes-AMG ONE. The clock has been ticking for it for ages, since Mercedes presented the Project One concept car five years ago. Customers have been patiently waiting for the car that should’ve been delivered to them starting last year. The model never came. Instead, Mercedes gave them little consolation. For an extra $50,000, they could take home the Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series P One Edition. That was a 4.0-liter V8-powered GT that came in the black-grey-Petronas green livery inspired by the Formula 1 racing cars.

Now Mercedes has just released a teaser on the Instagram account, with little indication of what they will be revealing. The approximately half a minute video shows the contours of a halo car. And the only one that might be that is the ONE. “The time has come,” the teaser claims. It also announces the 1st of June, 2022 as the reveal date. Furthermore, the caption says “Time to reveal a true pioneer. Time for something big. More on this soon. Stay tuned!”

Two days must pass before the hypercar we have been seeing wearing layer above layer of camouflage comes into the spotlight. Fans have already nailed it. Comments referring to the ONE have been pouring in since Mercedes-AMG posted the teaser.

No other model has ever caused so much headache to the engineers of Mercedes-AMG. It is though, the company’s first-ever hypercar. It’s one that borrows the sophisticated technology of the Formula 1 car from back in the 2016 season, when Nico Rosberg won his first and last World Championship title, before going into retirement. Little did we know back then that Mercedes was ready to take that tech to the road. Or at least on paper, it was. Last week, the company’s CEO Ola Kallenius joked that the board must have been drunk when greenlighting the AMG ONE. Drunk or sober, they have to pull this through. There are 275 customers who have already paid the 2.275 million euros to get this model in their driveway. Since it’s so expensive and exclusive, they probably won’t even drive it much.
