It looks so much like a family car, but looks can be so deceiving. The Mercedes-AMG E63 S 4Matic+ has just proved to be the fastest wagon that ever lapped the Nurburgring Nordschliefe, with a record time of 7 minutes and 45.19 seconds.
The extreme estate that premiered in Geneva, fits the entire family, plus luggage, plus puppy, holds the reputation of a supercar and surely one of the fastest ever built.
Powered by a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8, that unleashes 612 horsepower, hits 62 mph (100 km/h) from a standstill in just 3.5 seconds, which makes it 0.2seconds faster than the Audi RS6 Avant.
Sport Auto wanted to see if things can get even better. And so they took the family-friendly beast to the racetrack, setting a record time of 7 minutes and 45.19 seconds, riding on factory tires.
It must be considered that the Estate is slightly heavier than the saloon, at little over 2 tonnes. Like all other AMG models, the E-Class Estate provides four driving modes, Comfort, Sport, Sport Plus and Individual. The S 4Matic+ version comes with an extra: Race Mode is specifically designed for circuit driving.
