It is Daimler’s largest global production facility and of this week, it is „Factory of the Year”. Beijing Benz Automotive Co., Ltd. (BBAC) production center was awarded the title in a ceremony held in Munich.

Established back in 1992 by the industry journal „Produktion” and business consulting firm A.T. Kearney, „Factory of the Year” award soon earned respect as one of the benchmarks for the manufacturing industry in Germany and all around the world.

Beijing Benz Automotive Co., Ltd. (BBAC) is a joint venture between Daimler and its Chinese partner BAIC Motor, that has been manufacturing Mercedes-Benz passenger cars since 2005 and has been producing engines since 2013.

“BBAC is a key to the long-term and sustainable development of the Mercedes-Benz brand in China, and this award is yet more solid proof of our ‘Made in China, for China’ commitment. Our partnership has been a very strong one, and as a result our local portfolio makes up two-thirds of our total sales here in China”, says Mr. Hubertus Troska, Member of the Board of Management of Daimler AG, responsible for Greater China.

“We have worked hard to achieve this success, and the enthusiasm of our employees at BBAC is matched only by the enthusiasm of our customers to drive a Mercedes-Benz.”, states Mr. Peter Schabert, President and CEO of BBAC.

The organizers appreciated the facility’s trend to implement newly developed analytical methods for process control and quality assurance, as data from sensors and machines are collected in real-time, evaluated and transmitted into the process as feedback.

All production practices at BBAC follow the Daimler’s rigorous and unified global standards.
