The auction house Bonhams will auction four famous models on April 24, 2026, in Monte Carlo that made their mark in the DTM championship during the 1990s: the AMG-Mercedes 190E 2.5-16 Evo II DTM, Ford Sierra RS500 Cosworth DTM, Alfa Romeo 155 V6 Ti DTM, and BMW M3 E30 DTM.

The German Touring Car Championship (DTM – Deutsche Tourenwagen Meisterschaft), in its original form, took place between 1984 and 1996 and debuted in Germany. The initial idea was to create a touring car championship based on production models, and in the early years only private teams competed with cars that complied with FIA Group A regulations. By the end of the 1980s, manufacturer teams from BMW, Mercedes, Audi, and Opel joined the championship, along with Alfa Romeo.

Turbochargers were banned starting with the 1990 season, and in 1993 the Group A regulations were abandoned in favor of the FIA Class 1 Touring Cars rules with 2.5-liter engines. Opel, Mercedes, and Alfa adopted the new regulations, while BMW and Audi withdrew from the competition.

The auction house Bonhams is offering some of the most representative models of that era. Each of the four models achieved at least one victory in DTM: the Alfa Romeo 155 V6 Ti in 1993, the Ford Sierra Cosworth in 1988, the BMW M3 E30 in 1987 and 1989, and the Mercedes 190 E 2.5-16 Evo II DTM in 1992, 1994, and 1995.

Below are the four examples that will be auctioned at the event taking place on April 24, 2026, in Monte Carlo.

The first is a 1990 AMG-Mercedes 190 E 2.5-16 Evo II DTM (chassis number AMG2018924). It is one of the two factory team cars from the 1990 season, the first year when turbocharging was banned. It is also the car from which the 502 road-going Mercedes 190 E 2.5-16 Evo II units were derived, according to the regulations of the time. The car has been part of a racing car collection since 2015, and the estimated selling price is between €375,000 and €550,000.

The second model is a 1989 Ford Sierra RS500 Cosworth (chassis number GA3EKB99275) that belonged to the Ford-supported Wolf Racing team. The car offered at auction was driven by Armin Hahne and has Group A specification. The estimated sale price is between €275,000 and €375,000.

The third model is a 1995 Alfa Romeo 155 V6 Ti DTM (chassis number SE062-004). The car was assigned to Alessandro Nannini on January 9, 1995, by the Alfa Corse team. Being a 1995 car, it complied with the regulations of that period, following the FIA Class 1 Touring rules, and had a 2.5-liter V6 engine producing between 420 and 460 PS, with all-wheel drive. The estimated selling price is between €500,000 and €600,000.

The fourth model is a 1992 BMW M3 E30 DTM (chassis number WBA121307). The car complies with the Group A regulations of that period and was driven by the legendary Steve Soper. The estimated selling price is between €325,000 and €425,000.
