Soon after releasing the “Ignore Gravity” teaser, Mercedes-AMG and Cigarette Racing are finally revealing the creation of their partnership at the Miami International Boat Show. The legendary power houses teamed up once again to build the Cigarette Racing Team 41’ SD GT3 boat inspired by the Mercedes-AMG GT3 racecar.
The Cigarette Racing Team 41’ SD GT3 is the most powerful “open performance” boat ever produced by the Cigarette Racing Team. The powerboat is powered by two Mercury Racing 1100 HP engines with NXT6 Drives. As the name suggests, the boat is 41’ long and is able to reach a prop limited top speed of 100 mph.
The design of the features of the boat perfectly match those of its land counterpart from Affalterbach. A fully handcrafted interior and exterior, featuring matte components, a complete teak wood floor and a full extreme marine grade leather interior – a first for Cigarette Racing – were all designed by AMG’s Design chief, Gorden Wagener, and his team.
“Mercedes-AMG and Cigarette Racing are known for iconic products”, says the Head of Design Daimler AG. “Designing the 41’ SD GT3, we used some unexpected design elements from our Mercedes-AMG GT3 to create another racing icon, the most powerful “open performance” boat ever produced by the Cigarette Racing Team.”
Bluetooth connectivity, computerized controls, HD 17-inch displays and the next generation of the Garmin and Cigarette navigation and audio systems found room in the boat inspired by the land racer.
The AMG’s GT3 runs using the power of the 6.3-liter V6 engine, taken straight from the SLS AMG GT3 and boasts features inspired by the Mercedes-AMG GT, launched in 2014. What sets them apart is the six-speed sequential racing gearbox in the GT3, while the power of the GT goes to the rear wheels via the 7-Speed AMG Speedshift Dual Clutch transmission.
“We are thrilled to partner with the Mercedes-Benz performance brand again this year to design our fastest open performance center console powerboat yet,” states Skip Braver, President and CEO of Cigarette Racing Team. “The 41’ SD GT3 embodies our brand’s commitment to innovation and craftsmanship and once again shows the strength of our collaboration with Mercedes-AMG.”
Mercedes-AMG and Cigarette Racing have come a long way since they first started working together back in 2007. Whether on land or water, the power houses are united by their focus on delivering the ultimate level in performance. Just like the car maker’s vehicles with DNA racing, the powerboats built by the American experts are some of the world’s fastest and most exclusive machines.
The boat, accompanied by its land racer counterpart, will be displayed at the Miami Marine Stadium Park & Basin, starting February, 11. The price of the Cigarette Racing Team boat is available upon request. Before you ask the question, watch the video to make sure you want it!
That is one heck of a combination. The GT3 is quite the monster all on its’ own. Coupled with the Cigarette Boat, and it’s a dream come true. The official MB video with hashtag #IGNOREGRAVITY is very appropriate for these two beasts!
