Mercedes E-Class can no longer be ordered. Mercedes only sells what it has in stock. But the T-Model station wagon version is still available. Probable causes: lack of chips and the generation change that will take place at the end of 2022.
Launched at the beginning of 2016, Mercedes E-Class leaves the scene after only 6 years of career. It is a somewhat short lifecycle because the previous three generations have been on the market for 7 years.
If you enter the Mercedes configurator, after configuring an E-Class model, the message will appear to contact a dealer and the Mercedes website offers as an alternative models in stock whose configuration is close to your configuration.
E-Class’s relatively premature exit may be due to a lack of chips. Instead, the T-Model station wagon is still in production including the All Terrain version.
It is clear that Mercedes was forced by circumstances to stop the production of the E-Class because this is only a year and a half after the comprehensive facelift operated in the summer of 2020. Therefore, the Mercedes E-Class was still very updated and has two Plug-In Hybrid versions with diesel and petrol that could be combined with rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. At the same time, all versions except the E 200 d, E 400 d and AMG E 63 had mild hybrid system combined with 48V network.
The new Mercedes E-Class W214 will be unveiled only at the end of 2022 and will be sold in early 2023. However, Mercedes will still have an offer in the business sedan segment as the new Mercedes EQE electric sedan will be available for sale from June 2022. The new Mercedes EQE is based on the EVA dedicated electric platform, also used at Mercedes EQS.
The new Mercedes E-Class W214 will be sold in parallel with the Mercedes EQE because there is still a huge demand for diesel engines in this class in many European countries, especially for taxis. The new generation OM654 and OM656 Mercedes 4- and 6-cylinder diesel engines are very efficient in terms of the level of NOx emissions and therefore will be able to equip the new Mercedes E-Class for many years to come.
