The new Mercedes-AMG GT R PRO is the next best thing to a race car, as it comes with technology borrowed from the GT3 and GT4 racers. Mercedes took it to where it belongs, namely Nurburgring, for a hot lap.

The lap was measured by the independent experts from “wige SOLUTIONS”, while an independent notary confirmed the lap time achieved. He also certified that the condition of the vehicle was in compliance with the regulations.

The special edition limited to just 750 units comes with improved dynamics, being especially designed for the race track. Mercedes tweaked its suspension, construction, aerodynamics and looks to make it performance-oriented.

The newly developed AMG coil-over suspension provides more choices in terms of customizing the set-up according to a particular race track. The driver is permitted to set the spring preload length mechanically, but also the compression and rebound of the dampers via a click system with an integral adjustment dial on the damper.

A hollow—tube designed torsion bar made of carbon fiber mounted on the front axle and another one made of steel on the rear axle save weight and enhance dynamics. The electronically controlled dynamic engine and transmission mounts were also retuned to further increase the agility and deliver high-precision response and clear feedback.

The AMG GT R PRO gets the GT R’s 4.0-liter biturbo V8 with  585 horsepower and 700 Nm of torque.

The car is standardly equipped with the Track Package, that includes a roll-over protection system, enclosed 4-point safety harnesses for driver and front passenger, and a 2-kilogram fire extinguisher.
