The second model in the exclusive Mythos series will be a coupe based on the Mercedes-AMG CLE. Based on the camouflaged photos, we have tried to recreate what we believe the new Mercedes-AMG CLE Mythos super coupe will look like.

In 2022, Mercedes launched the Mythos series – a sub-brand positioned above Maybach, designed to develop limited-production super sports models.

The first representative of the new sub-brand was the Mercedes-AMG PureSpeed, based on the Mercedes-AMG SL: an extreme windshield-less roadster, built in 250 units — 29 fewer than the Mercedes-AMG One.

On January 27, 2026, Mercedes surprised us by releasing camouflaged photos of a coupe in black-and-white camouflage undergoing winter testing in Sweden. It is a super coupe based on the Mercedes-AMG CLE 53.

Although camouflaged, it is clear that the Mercedes-AMG CLE Mythos features a more aggressive front end, wider wheel arches to accommodate a broader track and wider tires, and a massive rear wing mounted on the trunk lid.

Mercedes describes the new model as follows:

“While bearing a clear resemblance to the popular CLE, the extreme new model takes the concept several steps further, promising an even more uncompromising appearance and positioning itself as a genuine statement on the road – backed by a correspondingly powerful drivetrain and performance to match.”

However, no technical details have been disclosed. Still, it is not difficult to guess. The previous-generation Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series was the first to feature the 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 M177 engine with a flat-plane crankshaft.

An updated version of this engine, the M177 Evo, debuted two weeks ago on the Mercedes S-Class W223 facelift. In the S-Class, it produces 537 PS and 750 Nm, but it is easy to assume that there is considerable power potential available.

The flat-plane crankshaft design allows higher rev levels, which inherently makes it possible to achieve greater power output. In the Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series, the V8 delivered 730 PS and 800 Nm, and therefore we expect at least the same output in the new Mercedes-AMG CLE Mythos.

To keep weight low, we believe this engine will feature at most a 48V mild-hybrid system, as Mercedes has recently discontinued the P3 hybrid system with an electrified rear axle.

This model will likely be produced in a very limited series and, considering the agility of the Mercedes-AMG CLE 53, it promises to be extremely exciting to drive — bringing to mind the sensational Mercedes CLK DTM AMG built by HWA in only 100 units, as well as the new HWA Evo that will soon reach its first customers.

Given that the HWA Evo — a remake of the Mercedes 190 E 2.5-16 Evolution II — costs nearly €850,000, it is expected that the price of the Mercedes-AMG CLE Mythos will exceed €500,000.
