Mercedes-AMG has just rolled out the new A 45 and CLA 45 Edition 55 as an anniversary mark. This is how the company celebrates 55 years of AMG.

The new Mercedes-AMG A 45 and CLA 45 Edition 55 follow in the footsteps of the G 63, A 35, and CLA 45 Edition 55. But there is a catch. These will only be available in Australia.

The customers will deal with the most potent models in the compact range of the premium carmaker. They will be able to order the cars either in Cosmos black metallic or Digital white metallic. Both will be displaying decals on the sides.

Mercedes fitted them with the AMG Aerodynamics package. It brings along a prominent splitter, a rear wing, a diffuser blade and canards.

The AMG Night Package II is standard on both the Mercedes-AMG A 45 and CLA 45 Edition 55. This package comprises a radiator grille, splitter, mirror caps and window line trim in high-gloss black. So are the quad exhaust pipes and the cars come with tinted windows.

19-inch AMG cross-spoke forged wheels in titanium gray are standard.

The future owner of the Mercedes-AMG A 45 and CLA 45 Edition 55 will get a cabin in black and red with dark brushed aluminum trim. They will sit in the standard AMG Performance seats in red and black leather and will hold an AMG flat-bottom steering wheel with the Edition 55 logo.

The most powerful turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder power unit sets the cars in motion. It comes along with 421 PS (415 HP) and 500 Nm (369 lb-ft) of torque, delivered to both axles via the eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and the 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive system with AMG Torque Control. And the answer is yes. They do get the Drift.

Late 2022 is the moment when Australian customers will be able to take one of these sports compacts home.
