Mercedes presents at the Munich autoshow  (IAA 2021) Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 4Matic+, the first fully electric AMG. It develops 658 HP or 761 HP with the AMG Dynamic Plus package.

Along with the first electric Maybach, Mercedes presents at the Munich autoshow (IAA 2021) Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 4Matic the first fully electric AMG.

Up to 761 HP with AMG Dynamic Plus Package

Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 4Matic+ takes over the MEA platform from EQS with a 107.8 kWh battery and two synchronous electric motors with permanent magnets.
The base power is 484 kW (658 HP) and the maximum torque is 950 Nm. With the optional AMG Dynamic Plus package, power increases to 560 kW (761 HP) and torque to 1020 Nm in Race Start mode with boost function.

In this case, the first electric AMG accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.4 seconds and the top speed is limited to 250 km/h. In the basic version, the acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h lasts 3.8 seconds and the maximum speed is limited to 220 km/h. With an energy consumption between 21.5 and 23.9 kWh/100 km, the WLTP range varies between 526 and 580 km.

The 107.8 kWh battery can be charged to AC stations with up to 22 kW or to DC stations with up to 200 kW. In this case, energy is charged for 300 km in only 19 minutes. Mercedes offers a 10-year or 250,000 km battery warranty.

As with EQS, the driver can adjust the degree of energy recovery from the paddles behind the wheel. Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 4Matic + sets new standards not only in terms of dynamics but also in terms of energy recovery when braking. The recovery output is up to 300 kW (EQS 580 290 kW).

Pneumatic adaptive suspension and integral steering as standard

Mercedes-AMG EQS takes over the drive train from Mercedes EQS with the four-link front axle and the multilink rear axle. The AMG Ride Control + adaptive suspension which is an adaptive air suspension and integral steering are standard. But at Mercedes-AMG EQS subframe and motor mountings are completely new being exclusive to AMG models. The integral steering has a steering angle of 9 degrees compared with 4.5 or 10 degrees at EQS. At speeds of up to 60 km/h the rear wheels are oriented in the opposite direction to the front ones.

With the help of AMG Dynamic Select, the driver can choose the “Slippery”, “Comfort”, “Sport”, “Sport +” and “Individual” modes. The drive modes allow not only the adjustment of the suspension, steering, engines but also the AMG Sound Experience and AMG Dynamics.

Maximum power is available in Sport + mode and the driver can adjust the suspension settings via the AMG Dynamic Select driving modes from Sport + to Comfort. In addition, the tuning can be adjusted in three stages independently of the driving modes via a dedicated button.

And the cooling system works differently depending on the drive mode. In Sport and Sport + modes the cooling system is activated earlier and the cooling capacity is increased to maintain power delivery for longer.

AMG Sound Experience

Just like driving modes, the driver has the ability to adjust the type and intensity of the sound. In the standard basic version “Authentic”, the customer can regulate the powerful, sonorous sound and its intensity depending on the driving status and the selected driving mode.

Using the AMG steering wheel buttons or the central display, the driver can select the sound characteristics “Balanced”, “Sport” and “Powerful” in any driving mode.
In Race Start mode, the car produces a unique sound suitable for lightning acceleration. If the AMG Dynamic Plus package is ordered, AMG Sound Experience also includes “Performance” mode.

Standard Digital Light headlamps, optional ceramic brakes

Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 4Matic+ (+ means the bigger battery) comes standard with Digital Light headlights and is characterized by the AMG specific Black panel grille with hot-stamped vertical struts in chrome, integrated Mercedes star and “AMG” lettering. The front bumper is painted in the body colour while the front apron is painted in high-gloss black and features chrome trim.

The rear apron is painted in the colour of the car with aerodynamically optimized diffuser with six longitudinal fins. AMG side sill panels are painted in high-gloss black. Also, in the rear you can see the larger fixed aileron (compared to AMG Line).

Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 4Matic + runs on 21 or 22 inch wheels in Aero or Heritage design, aerodynamically optimized. The rims house a high-performance braking system. The standard version offers AMG high-performance compound brake system with six-piston brake callipers and brake discs measuring 415 x 33 millimeters at the front, and single-piston brake callipers and brake discs measuring 378 x 22 millimeters at the rear. Optionally are available ceramic disc brakes that have a larger diameter in front of 440 x 40 mm. Another function is the i-Booster which combines electric recovery with the hydraulic brake.

MBUX Hyperscreen standard

The Hyperscreen screen that spans the entire width of the dashboard and includes the three displays is standard. Unlike EQS, AMG offers distinctive displays in the instrument cluster, as well as the multimedia display and the head-up display.

Quick access to the AMG DYNAMIC SELECT driving modes is provided by the corresponding direct-entry button in the center console. AMG sports seats upholstered in Artico leather with Microcut microfiber and red contrasting topstiching are standard. Optional nappa leather upholstery is available. In addition to the AMG Dynamic Plus package, you can also order AMG Night Package Dark Chrome and AMG Track Pace.
