School buses are going green, following in the footsteps of passenger cars with zero emissions. The North American Daimler subsidiary Thomas Built Buses introduced its first all-electric school bus for series production.
The “ Saf-T-Liner C2 Electric Bus“ or short „Jouley“ will be able to transport up to 81 students all over America to school, starting 2019. The manufacturer promises a safe, quiet and emission-free travel.
The 160kWh battery of the iconic bus provides a range of up to 160 kilometers. There are yet additional battery packs, that supply a higher range. During the development of the Saf-T-Liner C2 Electric Bus, Thomas Built Buses was able to draw upon Daimler’s electric technology resources.
Thomas Built Buses, a subsidiaru of Daimler Trucks North America LLC, was founded in 1916 and is world renowned for its legendary yellow school buses from films and television.
