Mercedes present today the first informations and pictures with the new Mercedes C-Class Coupe. The sportiest version of the new C-Class will debut at Frankfurt Motorshow and will arrive in showrooms in December 2015.

The new Mercedes C-Class Coupe is the third member of the C-Class family after the saloon and the T-Model. Based on the new MRA platform used also for the saloon, the Coupe features the new 4-link front axle from the saloon in which the wheel suspension is decoupled from the spring strut and the 5-link multilink independent rear suspension.

The new Mercedes C-Class Coupe comes with steel suspension as standard. Two suspension variants with selective damping system are available, each of which is 15 mm lower than on the saloon:

– comfortable Agility Control suspension with a sporty character

– sports suspension which include Sports Direct-Steer system for a more agile handling

There is also an option for the Airmatic air suspension, a unique feature in this class.

The driver can select one of the five driving modes using the Dynamic Select switch: Eco, Comfort, Sport, Sport+ and Individual. Dynamic Select adjust the response ot the engine, gearbox and steering and of the Airmatic suspension if the last one is ordered from the optional list.

The AMG Line is offered as an alternative and features 18 inch light-alloy wheels, a diamond radiator grille, special bumpers and sills, upholstery in Artico mand made leather/Dynamic microfibre in black with contrasting topstiching, a multifunction sports steering wheel with flattened bottom section and AMG sport pedals.

A range of six engines are available, all of them with four cylinders, turbo and direct injection: four petrol and two diesels.

The petrol range starts with the C 180 (1.6 liter/156 CP) followed by three 2-liter engines: C 200 (2 liter/184 HP), C 250 (2 liter, 211 HP) and C 300 (2 litres, 245 HP).

The diesel range comprise the enhanced 2.2 liter 4-cylinder with 170 HP (C 220 d) and 204 HP (C 250 d) which features ecofirendly SCR technology (Selective Catalytic Reduction).

The new Coupe is 95 mm longer and 40 mm wider than the old generation and the wheelbase is 80 mm longer. It is also 60 mm longer than its predecessor between the firewall and the front axle alone.

As the last spy pictures revealed, the rear part with the two-part thin taillights is inspired from the S-Class Coupe. The dropping line extends further past the rear wheel arch. A high beltline and frameless doors with free-standing exterior mirrors underscore the sporty character. The front part is characterized by the diamond radiator grille and long bonnet. The Cx of 0.26 is the best in its class.

The dashboard is carried over unchanged  from the saloon but the interior has a more sporty touch. Flowing forms characterise the centre console as well as the door and rear side panelling which smoothly merge into one another to emphasise the coupe character.

Special for the Coupe are the integral sports seats with an automatic belt feeder for added convenience.

A lot of safety and assistance systems are available as standard or optional features.

Standard safety package comprise Attention Assist with adjustable sensitivity and Colission Prevention Assist Plus  which features acoustic warning for the driver at speeds above 7 km/h and Adaptive Brake Assist to help avoid colissions by boosting the braking effect.
