The new Mercedes-Benz E-Class Estate comes to show that there is still room for wagons in a world where almost everyone wants or already drives an SUV. It is obvious that such body style won’t make it for long. But for now, it brings all the space and practicality that crossovers can only dream of.

Mercedes-Benz redesigned the E-Class Estate to put it in line with the sedan and provide it with a more dynamic stance. The roofline drops into a raked rear window. At the opposite end, the E-Class follows the design language of the sedan, with the black panel-like surface connecting the radiator grille with the headlamps, similar to that of the EQ models.

The E-Class Estate is now 28 millimeters wider than its predecessor and sports a wheelbase increased by 22 millimeters (to 2,961), which translates into more legroom, while the luggage compartment offers 615 liters (1,830 liters with the backrests folded) of space. Plug-in hybrid models compromise on space, dropping down to 460/1,675 liters. The height has increased by one millimeter for a bit more headroom on board.

The engine lineup also includes the fourth-generation plug-in hybrid version right from the start, with another one showing up at a later date. The electric motor goes from 15 to 17 kW, providing 205 Nm of torque.

The entry-level version will be the 2.0-liter turbo diesel-powered E 220 d with 197 PS (145 kW). Upper in the range there is the E 200 with 204 PS (150 kW) and the E 300 e with the same amount of power. For the time being, the latter is the fastest, with a run from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 6.5 seconds.

The air-sprung rear axle comes standard, while customers have to pay extra money for the AIRMATIC ADS+ continuously adjustable damping.

Customers will also benefit from the presence of the MBUX with connect me services and data packages from a third-party provider. The  Burmester® 4D surround sound system Burmester 4D surround sound system is optional. Just like in the E-Class sedan, owners will be able to access TikTok or play Angry Birds.
