Mercedes is launching the top version of the CLE with a starting price below 100,000 euros. The new Mercedes-AMG CLE 53 4Matic starts at 91,511 euros.
The new Mercedes CLE is available with two 4-cylinder petrol engines (CLE 200/CLE 200 4Matic and CLE 300 4Matic), a diesel (CLE 220 d), and a 3-liter, 6-cylinder petrol engine (CLE 450 4Matic), all with 48V mild hybrid technology with 23 PS starter generator.
Until now, the most potent model was the CLE 450 4Matic equipped with the 3-liter inline 6-cylinder engine developing 381 PS/5,800-6,100 rpm and a maximum torque of 500 Nm/1,800-5,000 rpm.
Mercedes is now launching the first AMG version of the CLE. Fortunately, the new AMG CLE 53 4Matic+ has the 3-liter inline 6-cylinder engine under the bonnet, not the PHEV system based on a 4-cylinder engine from the AMG C 63 4Matic.
The new Mercedes-AMG CLE 53 4Matic+ has a 3-liter inline 6-cylinder engine under the bonnet developing 449 PS/5,800-6,100 rpm and a maximum torque of 600 Nm/2,200-5,000 rpm (560 Nm constant with an over-boost to 600 Nm for 10 seconds). So, the AMG version has 68 PS and 100 Nm more than the CLE 450 4Matic version and accelerates from 0 to 100 kph in just 4.2 seconds (4.4 seconds for the CLE 450 4Matic). Like the other models in the range, the Mercedes-AMG CLE 53 4Matic has a 48V mild hybrid system with an integrated starter generator developing 23 PS and 205 Nm. Power is transmitted through the AMG Speedshift TCT 9G automatic transmission, and the 4Matic+ all-wheel drive is fully variable.
The Mercedes-AMG CLE 53 4Matic+ costs from 91,511 euros, which is 11,424 euros more expensive than the CLE 450 4Matic version. Standard equipment includes AMG Ride Control adaptive suspension, all-wheel steering, and 19-inch light-alloy wheels, with various 20-inch wheel designs available as options.
