After the recent facelift of the S-Class, Mercedes has also updated its flagship Mercedes-Maybach S-Class, which now features a 20% larger grille with an illuminated emblem. The V12 engine remains available, but only outside Europe. Meanwhile, the new V8 with a flat-plane crankshaft and mild-hybrid technology delivers the same power as the V12.

Two months after updating the S-Class, Mercedes has also revised its flagship Mercedes-Maybach S-Class, which is now more luxurious than ever. From a design standpoint, it features—like the S-Class—a radiator grille that is 20% larger and optionally illuminated. In certain markets, the Maybach logo on the rear pillar and the Mercedes emblem on the hood are also illuminated. As with other recent Mercedes models, the Mercedes logo appears in the light signatures of both the headlights and taillights. Two projectors integrated into the side sills distinguish the Maybach version from the standard S-Class.

Two new wheel designs are available: 20-inch polished forged wheels and 21-inch Manufaktur wheels with a sophisticated golden finish. The Mercedes logo in the center of the forged wheels remains upright thanks to a ball-bearing mechanism.

Like Rolls-Royce, the Maybach S-Class optionally offers automatic doors that can be opened via a button or from the multimedia display. In the rear, the redesigned center console includes two bespoke holders shaped specifically for silver-plated Robbe & Berking champagne flutes, along with a 10-liter refrigerated compartment.

It also features Active Ambient Lighting with 199 LEDs, ten color schemes, and 64 individually selectable colors, including exclusive Maybach shades like Rose Gold White and Amethyst Glow.

The Mercedes-Maybach S-Class is available in over 150 exterior colors and more than 400 interior color combinations.

The Night Series package includes grey, black, or white paint finishes, as well as two-tone options like obsidian black/mojave silver with dark chrome accents. For the first time, the Night Series can also be combined with nautic blue metallic. This optional design package offers two refined interior color combinations: black Maybach Exclusive Nappa leather or Manufaktur crystal white/pearl black.

For the first time, the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class also offers a leather-free interior option. The optional “stormy grey” scheme combines Artico artificial leather with high-quality “Mirville” mélange textile—a blend of linen and recycled polyester with a natural fiber feel.

Mercedes-Maybach S-Class

The dashboard is similar to that of the facelifted S-Class and comes with the standard MBUX Superscreen, featuring a 14.4-inch (36.6 cm) central multimedia display and a 12.3-inch (31.2 cm) passenger display under the same glass surface. The 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster is positioned separately and is also available in 3D format. Naturally, the multimedia system runs the fourth-generation MBUX software with integrated services and AI from Google and Microsoft.

In the rear, two optional 13.1-inch (31.3 cm) displays are available, each with its own remote control.

In Europe, the MB.Drive Assist package (Active Distance Assist Distronic with Steering Assist and Lane Change Assist) comes as standard, while MB.Drive Assist Plus is optional in some markets.

In China and later in the United States, the MB.Drive Assist Pro system will be offered, and it may also become available in Europe if legislation allows. This system enables seamless, safe point-to-point travel even in dense urban environments. Models equipped with it can be identified by cameras mounted on the front fenders.

V12 only outside Europe, new V8 with similar power

The facelifted Mercedes-Maybach S-Class will be available with four engine options depending on the region.

Upcoming Euro 7 emissions regulations in Europe have ended the career of the famous 6.0-liter V12 engine—but only in Europe. It will continue to be offered in selected markets in the same form and with the same output of 612 PS in the Mercedes-Maybach S 680.

In Europe and several other markets, including India, the top model will still be called Mercedes-Maybach S 680 but will feature the new V8 (M177 Evo) with a flat-plane crankshaft. It delivers the same 612 PS as the V12 and includes 48V mild-hybrid technology with an electric motor producing 23 PS and 205 Nm.

The second version is the Mercedes-Maybach S 580, equipped with the same V8 (M177 Evo) but detuned to 537 PS and 750 Nm, also paired with the same 48V mild-hybrid system.

The third version is the Mercedes-Maybach S 580 e, a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) combining a revised inline-6 turbo engine (M256 Evo) with an electric motor, offering an electric range of 98 km (61 miles). Unlike the previous PHEV version, the turbo engine now produces 449 PS (up from 367 PS), while the electric motor delivers 163 PS (up from 150 PS). Total system output is 585 PS—75 PS more than before—while maximum torque remains unchanged at 750 Nm.
The 21.96 kWh net battery remains the same, and the electric range is unchanged despite the power increase. The S 580 e will be available in Europe and other select markets.

The car can already be ordered in Europe, with the following prices:

  • Mercedes-Maybach S 580: €197,480.50
  • Mercedes-Maybach S 580 e: €202,359.50
  • Mercedes-Maybach S 680 (V8): €234,953.60

In the United States, it will arrive at dealerships in the second half of 2026.
