You don’t get to see a Mercedes-Benz SL 65 AMG Black Series right next to you in every traffic jam you’re locked in. because only 350 of these saw the light of day, with only 175 going to the United States. One of them is now for sale.

There was a time when emissions regulations were no excuse for downsizing. Mercedes wasn’t even thinking about electrifying its range and dropping V8 in favor of four-bangers. So engineering engines was about bigger, stronger, faster.

That was when this Mercedes-Benz SL 6 AMG Black Series rolled off the assembly line. It came with the almighty 6.0-lite twin-turbocharged V12.

It looked like a supercar and had the figures of one. That monstrous V12 developed churned out 670 PS (661 HP) and 1,000 Nm (738 lb-ft) of torque. All these are steered to the rear axle via the five-speed automatic transmission. Those were enough to make it flash from zero to hero (0-100 km/h or 0-62 mph) in 3.8 seconds. It hit 200 km/h in 10.9  and could run the quarter mile in 11.6 seconds.

The needle of the speedometer went all the way to a glorious 320 km/h (199 mph).

Everything about it screamed “supercar.” Price, too. When it set wheels on U.S. soil, it did it with a $300,000 price tag. But you know, some cars are like wine, the older, the better. So 13 years after it drove through the factory gate, this 2009 Mercedes-Benz SL 65 AMG Black Series is for sale for $50,000 more on Bring a Trailer.

It comes with a clean Carfax report and only 3,800 miles (6,116 kilometers) on the odometer. A body in Palladium Silver Metallic, Carbon fiber roof,  19-inch front and 20-inch rear wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 series are part of the deal.

The future owner is getting power-adjustable sport seats in black leather, a Comand infotainment system, a Harman Kardon Logic7 sound system, and carbon fiber trim.
