Mercedes-Benz USA (MBUSA) reports best-ever April sales with 29,236 vehicles sold, marking a 0.2% for the month. With the smart and the vans included, MBUSA goes to a grand total of 32,291 vehicles for the month and 116,600 sold year-to-date.

These are the figures that make Mercedes-Benz solidify its leading position ahead of Lexus (24,882) and BMW (24,951). The MBUSA records were paced up by the 45% surge in the SUV sales, with the GLC and the GLK being on top of the favorites.

“We are heading into a strong second-quarter with a minimum of nine new model launches in the months ahead,” predicts Dietmar Exler, president and CEO of MBUSA. “We expect to see strong sales momentum as we move into the summer months.”

The C-Class, the E-Class and the GLC model lines lead the sales ranking. The C takes the lead with 5,645 vehicles sold, closely followed by the former E-Class generation, with 4,882 cars delivered this past month.

The performance branch also got a strong hold of the customers’ hearts, as 1,967 cars are on their way to lucky drivers.

Mercedes’s April gain extended its lead over Lexus through the year’s first four months to more than 5,000 vehicles. BMW comes third, after claiming the annual U.S. luxury sales title last year. The sales figures don’t include BMW’s Mini models, nor Daimler’s work trucks and Smart cars, which aren’t part of the luxury segment.
