An angry roar and the beast starts chasing its prey. For one of the world’s first tests of the Mercedes-AMG GT R, the Green Beast went back home, to the place where it was created: Nurburgring.

Flat out on Nordschliefe! The editors of the Sport Auto magazine put a pro driver behind the wheel of the Mercedes-AMG GT R. Christian Gebhardt was the man who tamed the 585-horsepower beast powered by the power brand’s 4.0-liter V8 and shod with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires.

“It looks and it drives like hell”, Tobias Moers, the head of AMG, said the day the hardcore car was launched. Now it has just the right the circumstances to prove it.

The driver runs the 20.8 –kilometre (12.9-mile) lap in 7:10:92, reaching an insanely fast top speed of 302 km/h. The official top speed of the beast is 318 km/h. That is a hot lap that puts the Mercedes-AMG GT R in the 7th place in the all-time ranking.
