Mercedes is expanding the Mercedes GLC EQ lineup with two more affordable versions: the GLC 250 with a single motor and the GLC 300 4Matic with dual motors.
The Mercedes GLC EQ debuted in its flagship form, the Mercedes GLC 400 4Matic, featuring two permanent-magnet synchronous motors producing 489 PS and 800 Nm. Prices start at €71,281.
Mercedes has now added two new, less expensive variants:
- Mercedes GLC 250 EQ – equipped with a single permanent-magnet synchronous motor on the rear axle producing 260 kW (354 PS) and 800 Nm, powered by an 85 kWh net NMC battery (WLTP range of 650 km). Price starts at €64,736.
- Mercedes GLC 300 4Matic EQ – equipped with two permanent-magnet synchronous motors producing a combined 310 kW (422 PS) and 800 Nm, powered by an 85 kWh net NMC battery (WLTP range of 616 km). Price starts at €68,306.
The price differences are not particularly significant. The GLC 300 4Matic, with 422 PS and 800 Nm, is only about €3,000 cheaper than the GLC 400 4Matic, despite offering nearly 100 km less WLTP range (616 km versus 715 km) and 67 PS less power.
The charging power of the two new versions is slightly lower than that of the GLC 400 4Matic, at 320 kW instead of 330 kW. However, the 10–80% charging time remains unchanged at 22 minutes, thanks to the slightly smaller battery pack used in the new versions: 85 kWh net versus 94 kWh net in the GLC 400 4Matic.
The 85 kWh net battery is the same unit used in the CLA 250 and CLA 350 4Matic. It features prismatic cells and NMC chemistry. The same battery will also be used in certain versions of the upcoming C-Class EQ.
As with the GLC 400 4Matic, the air suspension and rear-wheel steering with a steering angle of up to 4.5 degrees are optional and included in the Agility & Comfort package (€2,844).
The dashboard features two displays as standard: a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14-inch multimedia touchscreen. However, the passenger display is available only as part of the Advanced Plus with Digital Extras package, which costs €3,570.
The one-piece 99.1 cm display that stretches across the entire width of the dashboard costs an additional €1,487.50 on top of the €3,570 required for the package mentioned above.
