Two icons of the motorsport, Mercedes-AMG and MV Agusta, share a similar background and a passion for speed and high-performance technology. The Affalterbach manufacturer and the Varase-based Italian motorcycle brand both combine engineering and craftsmanship. They are strong apart, but they are unbeatable together.
“AMG’s aspiration is to surpass itself with each new vehicle. Among other ways of achieving this goal, we collaborate with the frontrunners of other sectors in a bid to seek inspiration and constantly better ourselves. MV Agusta was, without a doubt, the only choice for us in the motorcycle sector”, stated Tobias Moers, Chief Executive of Mercedes-AMG GmbH.
Giovanni Castiglioni, President and CEO of MV Agusta Motor S.p.A., is supporting his ideas: “Motorcycles and cars – different on the outside, but identical deep down. Together we are driven by our history, guided by research, inspired by beauty, enchanted by speed. We fuel the passion of high-performance connoisseurs”.
Dating back in 1967, the start of the Mercedes-AMG company in Affalterbach, by Werner Aufrecht and Erhard Melcher, meant the beginning of a new era in motorsport. The cars branded by them have made a reputation based on racing victories and a unique product portfolio, that follows the “One man, one engine” guideline. The company’s mission is still the same today: to build the best car yet.
As for MV Agusta, the Italian company is the most iconic brand in the motorcycle industry with a long history in racing and unique design. About 22 years older than Mercedes-AMG, the brand founded in 1945 quickly became the most successful motorcycle manufacturer, as it gained 75 world titles (37 manufacturers and 38 racers). Today, the company is still leading the market with its mantra: “We do not just build motorcycles, we engineer emotions”, is the Italians’ pride.
For the moment, with this partnership, Mercedes-AMG and MV Agusta Motor S.p.A. start out on a mission: to go beyond adrenaline.
