This is the car that brings summer faster than expected! The new Mercedes-AMG C 63 Cabriolet, the high-performance convertible of the C-Class range with none other than he AMG V8 engine purring under the hood.

The biturbo engine also used for the super GT of Mercedes-AMG comes in two flavours: with 476 HP and with 510 HP, the letter being reserved for the S variant. And it stands proudly as the only one in the segment with an 8-cylinder biturbo engine, that throws the straight to its electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h or 280 km/h with the AMG Driver’s Package.

The drop-top fireball runs from 0 to 100 km in 4.2 seconds, following in the footsteps of the Mercedes-AMG GT with its 4.0-liter 8-cylinder biturbo. The exact same engine is used for the AMG’s 63 versions of the Saloon, Estate and Coupe, but the GT got the dry sump lubrication version.

And that much power can only come accompanied by quite a noisy orchestra, guaranteeing a soundtrack worthy of patriotic movies: sonorous bass tones, powerful mid tones and increasing trebles as the speed rises.

Mercedes-AMG C 63 Cabriolet (10)The car’s exhaust system is standardly fit with the flap technology is is controlled by the AMG DYNAMIC SELECT transmission mode. Optionally available, there is a Performance exhaust system, which allows the modulating of the sound at the press of a button.

The Mercedes-AMG C 63 Cabriolet promises faster gearshifts, with its retuned AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 7-speed sports transmission, that can go into the automatic mode or that can be initiated by the driver, using the shift paddles on the steering wheel. Upshifts and downshifts are intuitive, as the engine and the transmission parameters are automatically adjusted.

The C 63 Cabriolet gives a sensation of exhilarating agility and is made to run the winding roads at high speed thanks to the standard-fit AMG RIDE CONTROL suspension with adaptive damping adjustment. The driver can select one of the three suspension settings, “Comfort”, “Sport” and “Sport Plus” by the simple touch of a button in the center console.

A four-link suspension with radial, racing-style brake connection adorns the suspension system of the power-oriented cabriolet. The rear axle was especially developed for the Coupe and the Cabriolet. The innovations’ list include the AMG-specific wheel carriers, stiffer elastokinematic tuning and higher negative camber.

The C 63 Cabriolet is standardly shod with 10-spoke 18-inch light-alloy wheels in titanium grey with 9.0 J x 18 (front) and 10.5 J x 18 (rear) and tyres of 255/40 R 18 (front) and 285/35 R 18 (rear). The C 63 S Cabriolet runs on tyres of 255/35 R 19 (front) and 285/30 R 19 (rear) mounted on 9.0 J x 19 (front) and 10.5 J x 19 (rear) 5-twin-spoke light-alloy wheels, also painted titanium grey with a high-sheen finish.

There is also an option of putting on forged cross-spoke wheels, painted in matt-black with tyres of sizes 255/35 R 19 on 9.0 J x 19 wheels. The rear axle is fitted with tyres of size 285/30 R 20 on 10.5 J x 20 wheels.

Mercedes-AMG C 63 S Cabriolet (A 205), 2016A mechanical rear-axle limited-slip differential secures a better traction for the C 63 Cabriolet. Meanwhile, the S variant comes with an electronic version of it, both allowing the driver to push the throttle pedal harder when coming out of corners.

The 3-stage ESP® with “ESP ON”, “ESP SPORT Handling Mode” and “ESP OFF” settings makes a perfect match with the rear-axle limited-slip differential.

The C 63 AMG Cabriolet is all about driving performance in the open-air and about power. Therefore, the driver has the power to decide on his driving experience, going from comfortable-economical with a soft suspension and smoothly shifted gears in the “Comfort Mode” with “sailing function” to the super-sporty behavior of the “Sport Plus” mode. The C 63 S also brings on the “RACE” mode, with the perfect setting for the racetrack.

You need a serious braking system to stop all that power. Therefore, the Mercedes-AMG C 63 Cabriolet guarantees short stopping distances and excellent control with large cross-drilled and vented brake discs with a diameter of 360 millimeters at both front and rear. The C 63 S version comes with compound brake discs at the front with a diameter of 390 millimeters, while ceramic discs of 402 millimeters in diameter on the front axle are optionally available.

Performance gets visualized in the looks of the Mercedes-AMG C 63 Cabriolet. Flared wheel arches make the car 64 millimeters wider at the front and 66 millimeters wider at the rear compared with the standard Cabriolet. A typical AMG “A-wing” front spoiler together with an air deflector with three cooling air intakes and additional flics make the air flow smoothly wrapping the muscular proportions of the AMG convertible. A low radiator grille with the twin blades and the AMG lettering offer a striking front first impression.

The soft top of the Cabriolet is multi-layered, ensuring perfect insulation from cold and wind noise.

The absence of a visible B-pillar, the frameless doors and the side mirrors mounted on the door rather than in the mirror triangle, give the car a more fluid line.

The broad shoulders flanking the rear and narrow rear reflectors reinforce the feeling of a car that solidly takes control of the road with its wide proportions. The two AMG chrome-plated twin tailpipes are integrated in the diffuser. A narrow spoiler lip placed on the boot lid and painted in the body color, brings sharp sporty elegance to the car.

Once you get inside, the cabriolet gives the open-air high-quality feeling of the carefully selected material and ambience details. The instrument panel is trimmed with black ARTICO hand-made leather with contrasting topstitching. The analogue clock in IWC design (depending on the specification ticked by the customer) underscores the refined quality.

A sporty 3-spoke Performance steering wheel, dials in carbon-fiber look, a speedometer marked up to 320 km/h are the vows for a breathtaking experience, whether it’s summer or winter. The cabriolet features the optional AIRSCARF neck-level heating system together with the AIRCAP anti-draught function, so you can take it for a drive with the top down at Christmas time. But it might be a good idea to put it up once you fill the trunk with presents. 260 liters with the roof open might not be enough, but 355 liters with the top up ensure satisfying space. The fabric roof, available in black, dark brown, dark blue or dark red, can be operate at speeds up to 50 km/h.

The cabriolet comes standard with the ATTENTION ASSIST drowsiness detection system and COLLISION PREVENTION ASSIST PLUS, which helps to prevent rear-end collisions.

The C 63 Cabriolet and the C 63 S Cabriolet will also be available as “Edition 1” models for the market launch. The variant is only available in white: polar white, diamond white and designo cashmere white magno.
