Mercedes is making a branding move by appointing Brad Pitt as the ambassador for the new electric Mercedes-AMG GT 4-door coupé. In the presentation clip, Mercedes F1 driver George Russell also plays an important role.
Brad Pitt comes down to the reception of a luxury hotel in Las Vegas, hands the receptionist—who sports a prominent mustache and looks like he stepped out of a French movie—a note that says “Pitt” and “AMG GT,” and asks him to have his car brought from the parking lot. The receptionist calls the valet in charge of parking the cars and tells him to bring the car with number 63 to the front of the hotel, giving him an important tip: “Be careful, not a single scratch.”
But the valet is none other than Mercedes Formula 1 driver George Russell, who gets behind the wheel and drives the car up from the underground parking garage with spectacular drifts, then showcases his skill by doing more drifts around the fountain in front of the hotel.
Russell gets out of the car and apologizes for being late, to which Brad Pitt replies, “It was worth the wait!” Pitt then gets behind the wheel himself and drives off with a spectacular drift—reminding us that he played the lead role in the recent Formula 1–themed film.
The star of this commercial, however, is the new electric Mercedes-AMG GT 4-door coupé, shown in camouflage that still reveals its round taillights.
The Mercedes-AMG GT 4-door coupé will be unveiled in 2026, will coexist alongside the current generation with an internal combustion engine, and is the first model built on the new AMG.EA dedicated electric platform, which will feature the new Yasa axial-flux motors.
Later, Mercedes will also launch an SUV on the same basis, and a two-seat sports model is also under consideration.
After driving the car in the commercial, George Russell said:
“AMG has created something truly special here. I had an incredible day in Vegas with the Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe prototype. The car feels fantastic, and I’m really impressed with the performance that AMG is bringing to the road. I think fans have something very special to look forward to.”
