The top version of the A-Class, the Mercedes-AMG A 45 S 4Matic+, has received a farewell special edition called “Final Edition”. It retains the 2.0-litre turbocharged engine producing 421 PS and comes with a range of optional equipment that increases the price by between €6,075 and €10,091.

To celebrate the most powerful model in the A-Class range, Mercedes has introduced a special edition with a fitting name – Final Edition – which retains under the bonnet the world’s most powerful four-cylinder engine, producing 421 PS and 500 Nm.

Launched in 2020, the Mercedes-AMG A 45 S 4Matic+ retained the M139 engine even after the 2023 facelift. The 2.0-litre M139 turbocharged engine features a twin-scroll turbocharger mounted behind the transversely installed engine, allowing for more efficient management of the intake air.

Last autumn, Mercedes decided to keep the current-generation A-Class in production until 2028, although the initial plans had called for the model to be discontinued altogether.

More recently, Mercedes decided that the current A-Class would receive a successor in 2028, based on the new MMA platform. However, it is unlikely that there will be another compact AMG model with an internal-combustion engine, as the new AMG CLA has been launched exclusively as an electric model.

For this reason, it is highly likely that the Mercedes-AMG A 45 S 4Matic+ will be the last compact AMG model powered by an internal-combustion engine.

The “Final Edition” is available in Manufaktur Mountain Grey Magno and Jet Black non-metallic, with door handles finished in Dark Chrome. It also features 19-inch AMG forged wheels in a matt-black cross-spoke design, along with edition-specific wheel hub covers featuring the AMG logo in yellow. The brake calipers of the AMG high-performance braking system are painted in gloss black and feature AMG lettering.

The special edition also includes the AMG Night Package, with exterior mirror housings and trim elements finished in high-gloss black, as well as the AMG Night Package II, which adds Dark Chrome finishes to the radiator grille louvres and model badges.

The AMG Aerodynamics Package is available as an option. Developed in the wind tunnel, it includes a front apron with an enlarged front splitter and additional flics finished in high-gloss black, a high-gloss black roof spoiler, lateral airflow separation edges around the visual air outlets of the rear apron in high-gloss black, and a high-gloss black diffuser blade.

Inside, the Mercedes-AMG A 45 S 4Matic+ features AMG Performance seats upholstered in black ARTICO leather and MICROCUT microfibre, with contrasting yellow stitching and a 45 S emblem embossed into the front-seat headrests. The AMG Performance steering wheel is also trimmed in Nappa leather and MICROCUT microfibre, with yellow stitching, while the door sills feature an AMG logo illuminated in yellow.

The 2.0-litre turbocharged engine producing 421 PS is assembled in Affalterbach according to the “One Man, One Engine” principle. It is paired with the AMG Speedshift DCT-8G eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and sends power to all four wheels via the all-wheel-drive system, which can vary torque distribution between the axles and also between the rear wheels.

The Mercedes-AMG A 45 S 4Matic+ accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.9 seconds and reaches a top speed of 270 km/h.
