Thinking of buying an electric car? Don’t forget to buy this device!

Electric vehicles have been a new trend in recent years, amidst concerns about the depletion of oil fuels and massive air pollution resulting from the release of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases from the combustion of fossil fuels.

However, that does not mean that the process (electric vehicle manufacturing) does not cause environmental pollution, but that is another matter. Fundamentally, for air pollution and as an anticipation of dwindling oil reserves, electric vehicles have an advantage. Today, there are still several limitations related to electric vehicles, such as the number of charging stations, issues with battery repair, the high cost of batteries, and so on.

Electric cars (and also electric motorcycles) also have a distinct advantage in power. What that means is the torque of an electric car is instantaneous, so if you drive an electric car ‘in the same class,’ you will definitely feel that it is more powerful than ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) cars. Modern electric cars are generally more potent than ICE cars.

Are you planning on buying an electric car?

That’s great, but you should definitely know about the related infrastructure in your country. Yes, all electric cars can be charged at home, but if the country you live in already has a well-established infrastructure, then that is an advantage. However, if it doesn’t, that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t buy an electric car. As long as you ‘prepare everything’ properly, why not?

One of the things you must prepare is one or more (for backup) portable EV chargers. Why?

Unless you live in a country with a very adequate electric charging infrastructure (for electric cars), then a portable EV charger is your savior. Yes, you probably won’t always find an electric charging station (designed to be compatible with your EV’s battery).

What does every EV owner truly want when it comes to charging? Naturally, stable charging, fast charging, and charging anywhere. However, it is important to know that any portable EV charger will certainly be slower than a permanent EV charging station, but some products, like those released by Duevolt, are much faster than others. Generally speaking, they are extremely helpful in emergency situations where you cannot find a single EV charging station close to your location.

Okay, so what exactly is a portable EV charger? As the name suggests, this is an EV charger that can be easily moved or transported anywhere. Most products on the market weigh between two to three kilograms. Not heavy at all, right? Even your child could move it without difficulty. But what is it? You can think of it as a gigantic power bank, designed to charge your EV, rather than your smartphone!

What are the basic components?

A plug, first and foremost. The plug is used to draw electrical power from a power source, for example, an outlet in your home. What about plug compatibility? If nothing matches your outlet, then you can purchase an adapter. They are widely available and are generally compatible with many plugs. You simply need to know the plug type of your EV charger and buy the appropriate adapter. In the US, adapters usually have specific codes, which indicate their compatibility with the plugs. For example, the NEMA 14-50 is compatible with 240-volt plugs.

The second basic component is what is called the Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE). It is a small box that controls the flow of energy from the household outlet to your charger.

The third component is the charging cable. Typically, it is about 5 meters long. This is the cable that connects to the plug. The cable is also connected to the connector. The EVSE box is located in between them.

And the fourth component is the connector, which plugs directly into your electric car. Every portable EV charger may have a different construction, but generally, they have the basic components mentioned above.

Which EV charger?

That is a subjective question, but if you ask us, we can say that we are quite satisfied with Duevolt products. So far, there are four types of Duevolt portable EV chargers available, and no matter what type of electric car you have (even if your car is a Tesla), you can always find a durable, safe, and reliable portable EV charger for various situations.

Hopefully, this article provides you with valuable information about the importance of equipping yourself with a portable EV charger if you are an electric vehicle owner.
