The new Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 4MATIC+ Shooting Brake comes to revolutionize the segment of family performance cars. The new model gets the most powerful 4-cylinder engine ever built for series production, that also found room under the bonnet of the Mercedes-AMG A 45.

The 2.0-liter turbo engine, built by the principle “One man, one engine”, develops 387 horsepower for the standard variant and 421 horsepower in the S variant, a torque of 580 Nm, 500 Nm respectively, providing it with a run from a standstill to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.1 seconds, 4.0 seconds, respectively. The top speed is electronically limited to 250 km/h, 270 km/h when the AMG Driver’s package is ordered.

The CLA 4MATIC+ Shooting Brake standardly gets the RACE-START function, that allows full acceleration from start-off, supplying an intensive experience behind the steering wheel.

The engine is coupled to the AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT 8G dual clutch automatic transmission and to the AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive system with AMG TORQUE CONTROL, that distributes the power completely variably between the front and rear wheels, but also selectively between the left and right rear wheel.

The all-wheel drive responds depending on the mode selected and depending on the AMG DYNAMICS setting. In Basic and Advanced, the 4MATIC+ system is in the Comfort mode, getting into the Sport mode when Pro and Master are engaged.

The car is also equipped with a Drift mode, standard equipment for the S variant or included in the optional AMG DYNAMIC PLUS package for the base variant, assisted by a new rear axle differential. The driver will shift gears using the shift paddles on the steering wheel and the ESP is deactivated.

The new top-of-the-range 4-door coupe gets the carries over the sleek design, but receives the radiator grille with vertical slats, that confirms its membership to the AMG family. The aerodynamic drawing of the car with sporty genes ends with a double exhaust system, with a diameter of 82 mm for the standard variant and 90 mm for the S variant, with internal fluting and AMG lettering.

The new Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 4MATIC+ Shooting Brake is not only a high-performance vehicle, but also a practical one, because now, the 505-liter boot opening is significantly wider, from 635 mm to 871 mm. It can now open contactlessly, with EASY PACK and HANDS-FREE ACCESS.

Mercedes-AMG accounts the new model with more comfort, due to the new AMG suspension with specific spring elements and new, frequency-selective shock absorbers, but also reduced body roll. The AMG RIDE CONTROL adaptive damping system allows the driver to choose the behavior of the suspension, choosing between a comfy and a sporty personality.

Six driving programs are available onboard: Slippery, Comfort, Sport, Sport+, Individual and RACE. The driver receives the premium cabin with sporty ambience. He sits in the contoured sport seats with firm lateral support, in a combination of black ARTICO man-made leather and DINAMICA microfiber, with double topstitching in red. Red are the seat belts as well, while the dashboard support trim features black DINAMICA microfiber with a red border. The chromed air vents sport red surrounds. A ARTICO man-made leather in neva grey/black with mid-grey double topstitching and light-longitudinal-grain aluminium trim is available as an alternative.

Meanwhile, the S variant gets yellow highlights, the AMG Performance steering wheel in nappa leather/DINAMICA microfiber with contrasting yellow topstitching and a yellow 12 o’clock marking.

As expected, the MBUX infotainment system (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) finds room in the new AMG as well. Based on artificial intelligence, it can be engaged when speaking out “Hey Mercedes”. The one behind the steering wheel can choose one of the three AMG display styles: Classic, Sport and Supersport for the instrument cluster.
