Unveiled for the first time in Europe at the Munich Auto Show in September 2021, Mercedes has announced prices for its compact electric SUV with a seven-seater option. They start at 52,342 euros for the Mercedes EQB 250 with 190 HP.
The world premiere of the Mercedes EQB takes place at the Shanghai Motor Show in April 2021. The model debuted in China in a version with an electric motor and front-wheel drive.
The European version was presented at the Munich Auto Show in autumn 2021 and the Mercedes EQB was initially launched with two versions with two electric motors and all-wheel drive: EQB 300 4Matic and EQB 350 4Matic. From now on, can be ordered also the version with an electric motor and front-wheel drive EQB 250 which has a start price of 52.342 euro.
The Mercedes EQB fills the gap between the EQA and EQC. Like the EQA, the Mercedes EQB uses the conventional MFAII platform and the body shape is similar to that of the GLB. The EQB has the same width (1834 mm) and height (1667 mm) and the same wheelbase as the GLB (2829 mm) but is 50 mm longer. The Mercedes EQB is among the few electric cars to offer a seven-seater option. As with the conventional version, only people up to 1.65 m tall can sit in the third row due to the limited interior height. The option of a 140 mm sliding rear bench seat is still offered also for the electric version.
The basic Mercedes EQB 250 version uses a 140 kW and 385 Nm asynchronous motor which was initially only available in China. Versions for the European market are produced at Mercedes’ plant in Kecsemet, Hungary from October 2021 and feature all-wheel drive and two electric motors, one asynchronous on the front axle and one synchronous with permanent magnet on the rear axle. Depending on the variant, the Mercedes EQB 300 4Matic develops 168 kW (228 HP) and 390 Nm and the Mercedes EQB 350 4Matic 215 kW (292 HP) and 520 Nm.
All models have the same battery with a usable capacity of 66.5 kWh, identical to the battery from EQA. All-wheel drive models have a range of 419 km, compared to 474 km for the front-wheel drive model.Up to 20-inch wheels are available in two or three colours. Although aerodynamics are important in an electric car, Mercedes has not tried to improve the Cx of the GLB and also offers roof rails on the EQB.
Price of the Mercedes EQB 300 4Matic start at 55,311 euro, while Mercedes EQB 350 4Matic costs 57,988 euro. As with other Mercedes models, the limited edition Edition 1 launch series is offered (the optional package costs 7984 euros) and the Electric Art (940 euros), Night (535 euros) and AMG Line (3558 euros) packages are available in addition to the basic Progressive equipment.
