The Mercedes-AMG SL 63 4MATIC+ is now getting a Motorsport Collectors Edition. Only 100 such exclusive units will roll off the assembly line.
It is the company’s way of marking the 2022 Formula 1 season. And for those involved, the end was the best news all year, except for the 1-2 finish in the Sao Paolo Grand Prix, when George Russell scored his maiden victory.
The Motorsport Collectors Edition builds on the Mercedes-AMG SL 63 4MATIC+. The car is getting a two-tone paint, but also a star pattern and Petronas green details, which will indicate that it is taking inspiration from motor racing. The new variant will be looking a bit like the W13 E Performance with color graduation from silver metallic to obsidian black. 21-inch AMG ten-spoke forged wheels in matt black with Petronas green rims and the black soft top will round up the look.
Mercedes equips the motorsport-inspired variant of the SL with the AMG Aerodynamics package. It will bring along larger flics on the front and rear apron, but also a larger diffuser. The active profile in the underbody will be there for enhanced aerodynamic and downforce.
The AMG Night package and the AMG Night package II are also part of the deal. This means a front splitter, side sill panels, mirror caps, and decorative trim in the rear diffuser in high-gloss black. Darkened exhaust pipes match the drama of the V8 soundtrack.
There is a radiator grille and a three-pointed star logo in the rear in black chrome and black are the brake calipers as well. “Dark” seems to be the middle name of the SL 63 4MATIC+ Motorsport Collectors Edition. Because that is what Mercedes did on the interior components of the headlamps and taillights.
The lucky 100 will be sitting in AMG Performance seats and will be able to choose either the black nappa/Microcut combo with topstitching or black nappa/Microcut microfiber with yellow topstitching.
The MBUX, a Burmester high-end 3D surround system, ambient lighting will be on board. The driver will also benefit from the presence of a head-up display and the Driving Assistance package.
The fun begins with the AMG Track Pace, capable of providing relevant data when hitting the racetrack.
Mercedes-AMG also offers customers the Guard360o and the customized AMG indoor car cover to keep the collectible safe.
No word on the pricing just yet but we’ll know more when the cars hit the showroom floor.
