The new Mercedes-Benz CLA Shooting Brake comes to redefine the concept of space. The car was presented at the Geneva Motor Show and will hit the market this fall.
The new Mercedes-Benz CLA Shooting Brake is the model with which Mercedes is hoping to attract customers on whose minds, a premium car with the star was the last thing.
The CLA Shooting Brake gets the dynamic looks of the coupe, with a drag coefficient of only 0.26, but the proportions and the practical nature of the wagons that provide generous space. The car looks identical with the coupe all the way to the B-pillar. From that spot rearwards, wider access to the rear seats and an elongated roof, ended in a steeply inclined rear window, show up.
The new Shooting Brake is by 48 mm longer than the model it replaces, by 53 mm wider and it stands 2 mm closer to the ground. The boot provides a volume of 505 liters (+10 compared to the previous generation) and may be easily opened contactlessly, if the EASY-PACK and HANDS-FREE ACCESS are ordered.
The cab of the new CLA Shooting Brake takes the high-tech ambience of the coupe. It thus integrates the MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) system, that may be engaged by simply uttering “Hey Mercedes”, but also the assistance systems of the upper classes.
The MBUX may be controlled via the multifunctional steering wheel, via the touchpad in the center console, the screen in the center console, by voice and gesture control. The system is capable of recognizing the commands received from the driver from those of the passenger.
For extra comfort, the CLA Shooting Brake gets the rear multi-link suspension and optionally, the Adaptive Damping System. The model can be ordered with wheels between 16 and 19 inches.
The model takes over the assistance systems equipping the S-Class luxury sedan, such as the Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC, Active Steer Assist, Active Lane Change Assist and Active Park Assist with PARKTRONIC.
The Shooting Brake will receive the engine range of the coupe. At the top of the range, there will be the CLA 250 with 225 CP and 350 Nm and the 7G-DCT automatic transmission.
The new Mercedes-Benz CLA Shooting Brake, just as the coupe model, will be built the Mercedes-Benz plant in Kecskemét (Hungary).
