In the press conference at Detroit AutoShow 2017, Daimler CEO Dr. Dieter Zetsche announced that 2016 was the most successful year in the Mercedes history and shows Daimler commitment for the green mobility.
Dr. Dieter Zetsche, Chairman of the Board of Management of Daimler AG and Head of Mercedes-Benz Cars at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit: “2016 was the most successful year for Mercedes-Benz in the history of the company, and the sixth record year in succession.
Dr. Dieter Zetsche also mentioned strong investment of 10 billion euros in the green mobility for the future:
- Mercedes invest in a network of charging stations in Europe together with VW, Ford and BMW
- Mercedes invest 1 billion euro in the new battery factory for the future models
- Four EV models will be launched in the next 4-5 years. The middle class SUV EQ was already presented at Paris as a concept. A luxury SUV will follow and two sedans – one in a format between C and E-Class and a luxury one to compete with Tesla Model S.
