The Mercedes-Benz G500 4×4² is extravagance on wheels. And it has always attracted like a magnet, despite its jaw-dropping price tag. Mercedes know it very well and is up to something. So the engineers are working on a new generation of the extremely high-ride.

The standard G-Class is already the most extravagant luxury off-roader out there. It screams lifestyle and it displays unmatched abilities in the off-road and recently, on the tarmac as well. But Mercedes knew they could get more from the iconic SUV that they brought to life back in 1979. This is why the Mercedes-Benz G500 4×4² saw the light of day, taking off-road capability to a whole new level, with its complicated axle geometry, based on the engineering solutions of the omnipotent G63 AMG 6×6.

Mercedes-Benz G500 4×4² looks production ready

Now the Germans are working on a new Mercedes-Benz G500 4×4² generation. Spy photographers snapped shots of the prototypes testing in California. Scheduled to make its debut later this year, the vehicle looks production-ready.

The ground clearance should be similar to that of the previous generation, that went as far as 45 centimeters. That is a ride approximately 25 centimeters higher than the standard G-Class.

The prototype in the video posted on the KindelAuto YouTube channel sports larger fender flares. But the development team covered them, as well as the entire surface of the roof, as far as we can see, in the monochrome camouflage.  The spare wheel case also bears the same black-and-white camouflage. Despite the attempt to keep the identity of the model a secret, there is no doubt about it. The shape of the Mercedes-Benz G500 4×42 is surely unmistakable. And by the way things stand, it surely won’t be long until we will get to see it in all its glory.
