It looks Exciting, Elegant, Exclusive. It is the new Mercedes-Benz E-Class Coupe, the latest member of the E family that sees the light of day after the sedan, the Estate and the All-Terrain models. The Coupe comes with all the assistance systems fitted in the previous variants, but with the typical coupe sporty proportions.
Mercedes-Benz ends the year of the dream cars in style: sending into the world the all-new E-Class Coupe. The new E-Class Coupe breathes sportiness and class through its pores and looks sharp and sleek from every angle.
Technically based on the Saloon, the E-Class Coupe highlights the reduced lines and sensual design that fit its luxurious, yet athletic personality. A distinctive front end with a low-positioned sports grille and a central star, the elongated bonnet with powerdomes, a rearward-shifted greenhouse and a muscular rear end with two-part flat LED lamps make up the clear forms of the Coupe. A feature specific to the Mercedes coupes, when the vehicle is opened, the taillight LEDs illuminate successively from the centre of the vehicle outwards. When it is locked, the light sequence runs in the opposite direction. The feature is a farewell to the blue optical-fibre show in the front headlamp.
On the inside, the new E-Class Coupe comes with the already familiar intelligent and luxurious ergonomics of the Benz. It features the optionally available HD 12.3-inch dual displays emerged under a single lens. Practically positioned in the driver’s direct field of vision, the instrument cluster shows virtual instruments, which can be selected by the driver in three different styles, “Classic”, “Sport” and “Progressive”.
The entry-level model bears two round dials and a 17.8-centimeter color instrument cluster, accompanied by a 21.3-centimeter central display, all installed in a single frame.
The sporty character is emphasized by the air vents, with their design heavily influenced by the look of a turbine engine, all finished in silver shadow.
The Touch Control buttons in the steering wheel brings full control to the driver’s fingertips, as it gives him the power to control the instrument cluster and the multimedia system just by finger swipes. Further control is brought by the controller in the center console, which also recognises handwriting, but also by the LINGUATRONIC voice control system. The interior ambiental lighting, provided by the LED technology, is offered in no less than 64 colors.
The usual high-class materials and attractive color combinations are now accompanied by a choice of new innovative light wood trim packages in various finishes for further customizing. Speaking of which, the AMG Line brings seat upholstery layouts and a range of colors richer than ever.
Stepping outside, at 4826 mm in length, 1860 mm in width and 1430 mm in height, the latest E-Class Coupe clearly outruns its predecessor in terms of proportions and, naturally, space. The larger footprint gives the occupants more legroom, shoulder room and headroom, for sublime comfort in the coupe-specific individual seats, fitting the coupe with the classic virtues of a grand tourer.
In terms of power, at the market launch, there will be one diesel and three petrol engines, with a range output between 184 and 333 HP. Further engine options and the 4MATIC models will follow shortly.
The new 2-liter 4-cylinder diesel engine opens a new dimension in terms of efficiency. The new power unit delivers 194 HP, as the new E 220d boasts an average consumption of 4.0 l/100 km. All models available at the market launch are standardly fit with the 9G-TRONIC 9-speed automatic transmission.

To fit it with the sporty look that it deserves, Mercedes installed in it a suspension that is 15 milllimeters lower than in the sedan, thoroughly tuned for comfort and driving pleasure, making it glued to the asphalt and agile on winding roads. The DYNAMIC BODY CONTROL suspension, with adjustable damping and lower setting, is optionally available. The switch in the center console gives the driver the power to adjust the personality of his new car into “Comfort”, “Sport” and “Sport+” modes.
The new E-Class Coupe can alternatively be equipped with the multi-chamber air suspension for additional comfort and good handling at high speeds. Using the DYNAMIC SELECT switch, the driver can also select different suspension characteristics in combination with the AIR BODY CONTROL system: “Comfort”, ECO, “Sport”, “Sport +” and Individual.
The DYNAMIC SELECT system puts total freedom in the hands of the driver, as he can control other vehicle settings, such as the throttle response, the ECO start/stop functions, the shifting points of the automatic transmission and more. Based on the equipment level the car is fitted with, the DYNAMIC SELECT comes with the Comfort, ECO, Sport, Sport+ and Individual modes.
Full smartphone integration, Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto, but also Internet and diverse data sources even in the basic version are now available.
Proudly being part of the E-Class family, the Coupe is fitted with the assistance systems launched with the sedan. Active Brake Assist is standard, while the DRIVE PILOT and the Remote Parking Pilot, the next step into the world of the autonomous driving, are optionally available.
