The new Mercedes CLE Cabrio comes standard with an acoustic soft top, Aircap, and Airscarf and is powered by mild hybrid engines.

After the demise of the Mercedes C-Class Cabrio, E-Class Cabrio, and S-Class Cabrio, the new Mercedes CLE Cabrio remains the only cabriolet in the Mercedes range (the AMG SL is built by the AMG division) that continues the long tradition of four-seater open-top dream cars.

The new Mercedes CLE Cabrio features as standard several Mercedes innovations:
– Aircap consists of a wind deflector on the windscreen, which directs airflow over the occupants’ heads.
– Airscarf headroom heating system

Open and close in only 20 seconds

The standard fabric acoustic soft top made of a multi-layer structure contributes to good thermal and sound insulation, allowing the possibility to use the Mercedes CLE Cabrio all year round. The soft top opens and closes in just 20 seconds, can be operated while driving at speeds up to 60 kph, and is electrically operated, making it very quiet. The soft top is available in black, red, or grey.

The dashboard corresponds to that of the C-Class and CLE and features a 12.3-inch display for the digital instrument cluster and an 11.9-inch portrait display for the multimedia system, which can be tilted at different angles, as in the AMG SL, to avoid sunlight reflection. Thus, the multimedia display can tilt from 15 to 40 degrees when the soft top is open.

A special leather upholstery is optionally available to prevent overheating in summer thanks to a special coating that reflects the sun’s near-infrared rays. Thus, the leather upholstery is up to 12 degrees cooler in direct sunlight than untreated standard leather. The sun-reflecting leather and nappa leather are available in black, macchiato beige/black, tonka brown/black, power red/black, and white/black. The Avantgarde Line package is standard as on the Mercedes CLE Coupe and comes with black Artico/Microcut leatherette upholstery.

The Mercedes CLE Cabrio retains the dimensions of the coupe, being the largest cabriolet in the premium mid-class segment. Thus, the CLE Cabrio is 4,850 mm long, 1,861 mm wide, and 1,424 mm high, and the wheelbase of 2,865 mm is 25 mm longer than the former Mercedes C-Class Cabrio. The new CLE Cabrio also offers 72 millimeters more knee room and 19 millimeters more shoulder and elbow room than the former C-Class Cabrio.

Boot volume ranges from 295 liters with the soft top folded down to 385 liters, and the rear bench is 40/60% splittable. Electrically operated tailgate and Keyless-Go system are standard.

The Mercedes CLE Cabrio is equipped as standard with a comfort suspension lowered by 15 mm, and optionally, clients can choose a sport suspension or Dynamic Body Control adaptive suspension.

Two engines at start

Two versions are offered at the start of sales in Europe: the 197 PS 2-litre diesel (CLE 220 d) and the 204 PS 2-litre turbo petrol engine available with rear or all-wheel drive (CLE 200/CLE 200 4Matic). Both engines feature 48V mild hybrid technology with an integrated 17 kW (23 PS) starter generator.

The range will later be completed with the CLE 450 4Matic Cabrio with a 3-litre in-line 6-cylinder engine.

Prices start at 66,402 euros for the CLE 200, while the diesel CLE 220 d and CLE 200 4Matic are offered at the same price of 68,782 euros. Sales in Europe start at the end of April.
