Mercedes-AMG ONE is the name of the future hypercar produced by the company. The designation hints to the Formula 1 hybrid technology that it being translated into a road vehicle. The car is set to be positioned at the top of Mercedes-AMG portofolio.
Mercedes-AMG ONE has been undergoing intensive testing at a secret track from England, under the supervision of the company’s motorsport team. The engineers have completed the development of the active aerodynamics system and are now putting it to the test.
The hypercar has been taken into the wind tunnel for a check on the multi-part, two-stage exendable rear wing for maximum downforce in the race mode. Experts of the high-performance subsidiaries in Affalterbach, but also the Formula 1 specialists from Brackley and Brixworth, make up the mult-national team that makes sure the Mercedes-AMG ONE is getting the best and the latest technology in terms of dynamics. It will be what the company likes to call the transfer of racing technology in a street-legal vehicle. The Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Motorsport driver, Valtteri Bottas, has already tested the hypercar.
The future customers of the Mercedes-AMG ONE can now receive thorough information on the progress of the car that they are set to get. Mercedes is building a mobile showroom in a show truck, “The Future of Driving Performance”. Those that come onboard can even get the chance to sit in the cockpit of the ONE and check out the equipment.
Thus the custom-built trailer with extendable sides turns into a mobile showroom that offers customers vehicle display, coffee bar, lounge and information possibilities displayed on touch screen animations, video documentations, interviews of those involved in the production of the hypercar. The truck is currently available for the first time at the Mercedes-Benz subsidiary in Munich, on the BMW rivals’ territory.
Only 275 such vehicles will be built and sold for 2,75 million euros. The hypercar will be set in motion by two electric motors that will be working together with a 1.6-liter conventional engine, providing the company’s beast with approximately 1,100 horsepower. If the figures are confirmed, the Mercedes-AMG ONE is going to be the most powerful car ever built by the German premium car maker.
