Mercedes sales fell 8% in the first quarter of 2024 to 463,000 units. The falls are in all regions of the world and are due partly to problems with the supply of some components and partly to the replacement of some models.

Mercedes-Benz Cars sold 463,000 cars in the first quarter of 2024, down 8% from the same period in 2023.

Sales of electric models are also down 8% to 47,500 units. But electric models still account for just over 10% of total sales. A better result was seen in sales of PHEV models, which increased by 6% in the first three months of 2024, from 40,100 units to 42,700 units, boosted by new models with larger batteries offering electric ranges of over 100 km. Thus, Mercedes sold 90,200 EVs and PHEV units in the first three months of 2024 (91,700 in the first quarter of 2023, -2%), which represents 19% of the total.

Sales by model
In the Top-End segment, sales decreased by 27% to 66,600 units. The causes are related to supply-chain bottlenecks, but also to model changes in the G-Class and the new AMG versions of the E-Class and GLC. This year, Mercedes will introduce eight new Mercedes-AMG versions and the new G-Class electric. The EQS will also get a facelift at the Beijing Motor Show on April 25 where the new electric G-Class will also have the world premiere.

In the Core segment, sales rose 8% to 267,700 units thanks to the good results of the GLC. The evolution of sales in the Core segment will increase in the next future because Mercedes has launched the long-wheelbase E-Class in China.

Sales in the Entry segment fell 21% to 128,800 units.
