The Green Beast has left its Green Hell for a joyride in the “Emerald Isle” for a special photo session. It is the newly opened area in the Europa-Park in Germany, also known as Ireland. Photos via Gijs Spierings Photography.

The pure-bred sports car Mercedes-AMG GT R, with racing DNA, comes with a pack of 585 HP, which makes it the most powerful street-legal car ever built in Affalterbach. The active aerodynamics and the looks of the model have found the perfect background in one of Europe’s largest amusement parks.

The Mercedes-AMG GT R, painted in the exclusive “AMG green hell magno”, comes with the Panamericana radiator grille, originally unveiled last year with the GT3. Its muscular stature is highlighted by the prominent wings, side panels and by the huge manually adjustable wing at the rear.

The GT R’s curved solid bonnet shelters the already familiar 4.0-liter V8 biturbo, yet with a power boost, to go all the way to 585 HP. 15 kilograms lighter than the GT S at 1,630 kg, despite the highest number of technologies it incorporates, the car runs from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.6, all the way to a top speed of 318 km/h.

Yet the numbers don’t tell half of the story about the car that Daimler is planning to sell in just 2,000 units, turning the green beast into a truly collector’s machinery.

Europa Park, the setting for the impressive photo session, has no less than twelve roller coasters. Together with other attractions, the park can accommodate up to almost 50 000 guests per day. 5 million visitors enjoyed the exciting park in 2015, generating an estimated total revenue of over 300 million euros. The park is open all year long.
