Launched in 2020, the luxury limousine Mercedes S-Class W223 will undergo a facelift, set to receive headlights with a light signature that reproduces the Mercedes logo, as well as the Hyperscreen display from the EQS. We present a computer-generated illustration showing how the facelift will look.

After almost 6 years, Mercedes will apply a facelift to its luxury limousine, the Mercedes S-Class W223. As seen in the computer-generated image, there are several significant stylistic changes:
-
the new headlights will include a new light signature that reproduces the Mercedes logo, similar to the new Mercedes CLA and GLA EQ models
-
the radiator grille is slightly larger, and its design incorporates some ideas from the Vision Iconic concept. Optionally, the grille can be illuminated.
-
the bumper has been redesigned, and the air intakes at the edges of the radiator grille have been revised
-
at the rear, the taillights adopt the new light signature that mimics the brand’s logo
Dashboard from the EQS, new MB.OS operating system with Google
There are major changes inside as well, with a completely new dashboard. The S-Class drops the 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and the 11.9-inch portrait multimedia display, which have been replaced by the EQS’s Hyperscreen—three displays mounted under a single glass panel.
The multimedia system will also use the new MB.OS software developed in-house by Mercedes, which is based on Google services and also includes artificial intelligence. The only difference from the EQS is that the facelifted Mercedes S-Class will have a physical start/stop button located to the left of the multimedia display. The steering wheel is also new and, as on the new GLC, features a rotary knob for audio volume control.
According to some sources, the Drive Pilot autonomous driving system will operate at higher speeds, up to 110 or 130 kph.
Unchanged engine lineup
Mercedes is not giving up on diesel, which was updated in autumn 2023 when it also received a 48V mild-hybrid system. Thus, six-cylinder diesel and petrol engines with 48V mild-hybrid technology will continue to be offered. The 4-liter twin-turbo V8 engine also features 48V mild-hybrid technology.
The range will be completed by PHEV versions, which may offer a longer electric range.
The long-wheelbase version will continue to be available in an AMG variant that combines the 4-liter twin-turbo V8 with an electric motor on the rear axle. The Mercedes-AMG S 63 E Performance delivers 802 PS and up to 1,430 Nm.
The world premiere of the new facelifted Mercedes S-Class W223 will take place on January 29, 2026, at the Mercedes Museum in Stuttgart, and it will go on sale immediately afterward.
