After the B-Class and A-Class renewal, Mercedes has updated the most stylish members of the compact range: Mercedes CLA and CLA Shooting Brake.

With 582,531 units sold in 2015 (+25.8% compared with 2014), the compact range from Mercedes registered the highest figure ever for the compact models.

Produced in the new factory from Kecsemet, Hungary, CLA was launched in January 2013 followed by the CLA Shooting Brake in January 2015.

Mercedes has decided relatively soon for a facelift for both models.

The most efficient version is now the CLA 180 d BlueEfficiency Edition with 109 HP 1.5 liter diesel engine mated exclusively with manual transmission which promise an extremely low level of CO2 emissions at 89 g/km (94 g/km for CLA Shooting Brake).

The new CLA 220 4Matic expands the choice for fans of all-wheel drive. The 2 liter turbo engine delivers 184 HP and is mated standard with 7G-DCT automatic transmission.

The top versions Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 4Matic Coupe and Shooting Brake got also the updated engine from A 45 AMG with 381 HP and 475 Nm. The new CLA 45 AMG Coupe and Shooting Brake are amongst the most powerful vehicles in their segment, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.2/4.3 seconds.

The design changes have subtly honed the distinctive look of the CLA and CLA Shooting Brake. All models now have a diamond radiator grille in black as standard, plus a new front bumper, while the tailpipe trim panels are now integrated flush into the bumper. A new paintwork shade is available – cavansite blue metallic. The range of available wheels has been also extended. Customers can choose from five 18 inch light-alloy wheels inclusing one in a new 5-twin spoke design in conjunction with AMG Line.

Both models – CLA and CLA Shooting Brake – has updated assistance and safety systems. Active brake Assist known before as Collission Prevention Assist Plus is standard.

Like in case of A and B-Class, the display of the multimedia system has increased from 7 to 8 inch and is available already as an option for Audio 20 USB and Audio 20 CD systems. The new style dials and red needles in the instrument cluster make it easier to read the instruments.

The option list include now LED High Performance headlamps and Hands-free Access as part of the Keyless-Go Comfort package. The last one allow the boot lid or tailgate to be opened (CLA and CLA Shooting Brake) and even closed at CLA Shooting Brake.

The new CLA Coupe will make its debut at the New York Auto Show on March 25 while the updated CLA Shooting brake will be launched on the occasion of the awards ceremony for the laureus World Sports Awards in Berlin on April 17/18 2016. Both models can be ordered from April 2016 and will arrive in showrooms in July 2016.
