Who accelerates the strongest: The Mercedes A45 or the BMW M2? Between the 4 cylinders pushed to the maximum and the six cylinders in line, who wins in a match of pure acceleration?

The all-new Mercedes-AMG A 45 S sets the bar higher in power than ever. Its small 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder engine claims a maximum power of 421 horsepower, 21 horsepower more than the Audi RS3 Sportback and its 2.5-liter five-cylinder inline turbo engine. Enough to regain the lead in the competition of premium compact sports cars, pending the arrival of an even more powerful competitor.

It is official! Mercedes-AMG A 45 and CLA 45 with 387 or 421 hp are here

If we consider the BMW M2 coupe as a compact, the latter has already regained the advantage over the Mercedes thanks to its new CS version and a turbocharged six-cylinder inline six (from the M3 / M4 duo) with 450 horsepower. But the model visible in this video is an M2 Competition. It is therefore satisfied with another variant of the six-cylinder in-line BMW M, developing “only” 410 horsepower in maximum power.

Dual acceleration
The Dutch journalists from AutoTopNL wanted to check which of these two compact sports cars was accelerating the strongest. They therefore compared the two on an acceleration from 0 to 250 km/h.

It will, of course, be necessary to replay the match with the M2 CS instead of the M2 Competition, of course… But, who wins? See for yourself in the video below.
