This must be every kid’s dream. To have a dad who builds cars for him. And not just any cars, but replicas of luxury and super sports vehicles in wood. The latest creation of the artistic dad is the Mercedes-Benz Vision AVTR.

The concept awed the crowd at CES, back in 2020. Mercedes has created a car finding inspiration in the AVATAR blockbuster from more than a decade before.

33 multi-directionally movable bionic flaps at the rear mimicked the reptile scales, steering the airflow around the car. Back then, Mercedes claimed it was actually a living creature.

It may be difficult to replicate such an out-of-this-world model in wood. But Trương Văn Đạo from Vietnam seems to have done a great job. Running his own YouTube channel, ND- Woodworking Arthttps://www.youtube.com/c/NDWoodworkingArt1, he has been building a Rolls-Royce, some Lamborghinis, a Bugatti and even a tank. They all run and drive as if they were the real deal. Well, they don’t exactly shoot, nor hit mind-blowing speeds. But they are enough to make everyone turn their heads in wonder.

This time, it is the Mercedes-Benz Vision AVTR replica that he built as a birthday present for his son. It took him 100 days of hard work. He welded the chassis together, attached the suspension, and put on 14-inch wheels. Documenting the work of over three months, the video shows how the car comes together.

The doors automatically open and there is LED lighting on board. Meanwhile, the LEDs outside recreate the concept’s lighting signature. Unlike previous replicas the Vietnamese artist has built, this one lacks the steering wheel. But there is a good reason for it. The concept does not have one either.

The almost 17-minute video shows the father picking up his son from school, then driving the Mercedes-Benz Vision AVTR slowly through the streets of the town.
