Mercedes-AMG is preparing an extreme version of the AMG GT supercar. According to inside sources, the future variant will be called the AMG GT Black Series and will be launched in the first half of next year.
Mercedes-AMG GT will receive an extreme Black Series version and one of the test prototypes was caught during the Nurburgring testing session. According to the first information, the model will have a 4.0-liter biturbo engine, but “will not be a typical AMG V8”.
According to statements made by Tobias Moers, chief of the Mercedes-AMG division, the new AMG GT Black Series will be equipped with a twin-turbo V8 engine, but the powertrain will be different from the current M178. Moreover, the Mercedes-AMG official says the future powertrain “will not be a typical AMG V8.” Sources close to the German carmaker say that the Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series will provide about 700 horsepower.
Also on the list of news, the Germans will pass a modified suspension and an extreme aerodynamic package. Currently, the most generous version of the AMG GT range carries the R suffix. The 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine delivers 585 horsepower and 700 Nm, and acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h occurs in 3.6 seconds.
As we have already said, a few days ago, one of the test prototypes was caught during a testing session on the German circuit at Nurburgring. As expected, the prototype was almost completely dressed in camouflage, but we still get a glimpse of the aero-mods Mercedes-AMG is preparing. Enjoy the video below.
