VIDEO: Mercedes-AMG S 63 versus BMW M760Li drag race

An old-school drag race is probably not the test you’d imagine a luxury limo has to win to prove itself. But our colleagues from CarWow thought of pitting the Mercedes-AMG S 63 versus BMW’s mighty M760Li anyway.

The playing field was the Bruntingthorpe proving ground in the UK, a place where any big limo would feel out of place. But not the Mercedes-AMG S 63 and the BMW M760Li, who are in fact the sportiest iterations of both top German models. Their recipe is actually not new, but still intoxicating to think of: big turbo petrol engines with over 600 hp and all the speed and comfort a car can offer.

Under the bonnet of the Mercedes-AMG S 63 we find the sports division’s signature bi-turbo 4.0-litre V8, rated at 612 hp, while the missile from Munich is driven by a burly V12. The M760Li has a 6.6-liter capacity and 609 hp.

In fact, CarWow didn’t limit the comparison to the aforementioned drag race, but went further with a brake test from 70mph and a rolling race. The tested cars were not exactly a match, since the BMW comes with standard xDrive four-wheel drive, while the Mercedes-AMG S 63 is only available in rear-wheel drive format in United Kingdom.

We won’t spoil the results, so we’ll let you enjoy the video and find out which German luxury missile is the fastest.
