The launch of the 2020 Mercedes-AMG E 63 facelift is imminent and according to sources close to the company the presentation would take place in the coming weeks.
In early March, Mercedes-Benz published the first images and details of the E-Class facelift. At that time, the most powerful version prepared by the German manufacturer wore the Mercedes-AMG E 53 4Matic + badge.
Under the hood is a 3.0-liter six-cylinder petrol engine capable of delivering 435 horsepower and 520 Nm. The unit is equipped with both a turbine and an electric compressor, and at certain moments the mild-hybrid EQ Boost system intervenes. The latter increases temporarily the total output with 22 horsepower and 250 Nm.
But fans of the extreme versions have no reason to worry. The Germans will soon present the top version, the 2020 Mercedes-AMG E 63 facelift. To confirm this, one of the test prototypes was captured on video during a test session on the Nurburgring race track.
Aesthetically, Mercedes prepares a slightly more aggressive body package, while inside, customers of the 2020 Mercedes-AMG E 63 facelift will enjoy new sports seats and the latest MBUX multimedia system.
Under the hood of the future performance model will be the same 4.0-liter V8 engine. On current versions, the unit delivers 571 hp or 612 hp (Mercedes-AMG E 63 S variant) and the 2020 Mercedes-AMG E 63 will probably have the same outputs. Resources will continue to be managed by the nine-speed AMG Speedshift MCT automatic transmission and the 4Matic all-wheel drive system.
